SMN is not going extinct not even close, look they nerfed us by 10% at very best a good SMN so one that actually knows how the job is supposed to work is still going to own the hell out it. SMN is still one of the top 2 imo also with them making it so the timer carries over when we spread our love around to the group of mobs that should help a little at least in over all DPS. Also we have the largest falic symbols ever as our standard head gear which means we win by default so really SMN > All
I just ran Manor hard mode with some FC buddies. MY DPS went down very noticeably since patch. My item average is 75 so I'm well geared for it. Looks like I'm gonna need to level a Melee for 4 man. Save my Bard for 8 man support.
when it come to the SMN part i am gona have to say that you are completely mistaken b/c the virus nerf is affecting the classes that can sub it, since smn virus reduces all stats by 15% when subing virus only reduces str and dex by 15%
The virus nerf is pretty much making it subing useless and making smn more important to have in the group
also there isnt any nerf on swift cast or res , smn is the only dps that can cast rest , so making a group and not having the only dps that can reduce all stat by 15% plus the only dps that can raise, is a group i know is gona have a hard time or fail
It's funny that the classes Im most interested in got buffs(outside of BLM but Im fine with the changes). I wanted a warrior simply b/c red/black i90 > everything (LOL). Wanted a monk again b/c it was the first class i ever did b4 I started a new character, and I wanted a sch b/c of fairies and the look of the heals.
I think mnk will take the cake obviously on boss fights. Im interested in testing how BLM stacks up now against melee. I know I'll prob always be behind (T_T) unless I get pros out the wazoo, but by how much when taking into account the times they have to dodge and I don't? Either way Im excited about the patch/changes.
MNK > DRG > BLM> SMN> BRD imo.
Except nobody ever used RoD unless there were boss adds that needed killing ASAP, a boss burst that needed its power dropped, or too many mobs pulled. Most of the time RoD wasn't even touched, so the change did nothing for us to keep our normal damage cycle going. But I can say from a WP run I did with the usual crew earlier, I noticed the DPS difference instantly from me (a DROP in DPS, from where I'm not sure). We were already rock bottom DPS, and they lowered us a bit more, and got rid of the few support skills we actually used at least 3 times a run (unlike songs, which are almost never popped). It was a VERY VERY stupid decision from the guys in charge, IMO.
Rod was pretty good in coil and Titan. You say your dps was magically lower, ok do you have numbers? Maybe we can get to the bottom of this.
From off the top of my head, the change in numbers was Heavy Shot dealing 230 instead of the normal 250 on a Tonberry, Straight Shot hitting for 200 instead of 240, and Bloodletter was doing 300 instead of the usual 340. I'm not sure what caused the numbers change at all, whether it was something not being used, or a slight buff to a Tonberry's defense unmentioned. This was with all the buffs off me and on cooldown, btw (not Straight Shot), compared with yesterday.
Potency was reduced, Blood letter pre 2.1 (150) now 130, Straight Shot pre 2.1 (140) now 130 as well as Hshot. Dmg from my entire coil run was significantly reduced at top end crits by 20%-25%. Pre 2.1 bloodletter crit without b4b running ranged from 720-740 now 540-550. However for T5 without having to spam RoD for DS I unloaded a ton more skills without being TP starved at all. Additionally since the changes to whm (not sure precisely) however he was mana starved way more then normal, obviously needing longer duration for Ballad inturn -20% dps. Ballad now at the end of p1 for top up, as well as p2>p3 transition, again after p4. Only had enough manapool for Foes during asclep kill and Foes BV for dreadknts/twisters.
Double brd coil groups will feel a big hit in overall group dps.
Except it was wasn't it's been confirmed over and over to be a tool tip error there is no way people are suddenly doing less DMG unbuffed.
Please enlighten me, because besides a very slight nerf to two of our cd's and a tool tip error there is NO DIFFERENCE.
I've been playing endgame with my BRD for 2 months. I noticed dps drop the very first mob after patch. Like I said before, my FC mates who run with me noticed too. I'm not saying it's the end of the world, just that it's quite noticeable. If you can't tell any difference then you don't know your class very well.
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I thought that RoD now gives -10% evasion for mobs, that means that if before RoD you can't miss in t5 with 472 accuracy, now you won't miss with 472*0.9 = 425 accuracy, which means that all the party can now equip new bard-based BiS items with other stats like crit and maybe determination, which will boost their damage. So, instead of making defences 10% better bards now can buff entire party's DPS (self, too, of course)
