Crystal Tower Preview (lodestone post)

So as a 50 BLM/SCH all i have to look forward to is 2 reskined battlemage armours?, Really SE?. It all makes sense now why you cant dye certain armour sets in the game because SE wants to pull stuff like this off and say "heres brand new armour guyz!".

I'm almost full i90 on my BLM so i wont be doing CT on BLM. My SCH is full i70 but do i really want to farm for reskined battlemage armour?.. no.

I sometimes wish people would use their brains for a moment to actually ponder as to why S-E went for this approach for now. It's not hard to understand (agreeing is another thing) what the reason behind this is.

Answer
Preventing people from clearing the instance with a SR build. And to avoid conflict with other parties through duty finder

Case 1 - Full 24 made alliance

Something we were all expecting to be available. But obviously they postponed this.
Reason: We've seen from experience that people will look for the perfect ultimate party composition. Which certainly would have happened here. Creating some new forms of CT Speed runs. (Random example: 3 tanks, 3 healers, BLM/BRD only for AoE damage)

Case 2 - Current case of 1 premade party

Obviously because we aren't getting the above situation. This leads to us being forced to fill the standard party.
Reason: It would otherwise mean that everyone can create random parties.
Results into -> Random PT #1 + Random PT #2 + Random PT #3 = Holy mother of randomness!!!!
Basically, it will just make people queue up and leave the instance the moment that an alliance of "WTFRandom" enters.


All of this is simply to give everyone an equal chance of doing this content without getting things like WP SR.

Some gear can be dyed btw from dungeons.. parts of the various AK sets for instance. :)

I'm sure many will be disappointed but, that's not a 1-to-1 Battlemage robe reskin. The hat, however, is, and so is most likely the MNK eyepatch, while the mage boots look like they might be mage Coil boots reskins.

It's funny.... A couple days ago people were QQing in another thread how the lower level unique armour isn't reused, dare I say, reskinned more often.

Probably not as they said in the last live letter that CT would be the 1st to go along with the vanity system. So as of right now older gear will not be but who knows if this changes down the road.

Yoshi or the Dev team never said anything to that effect. They have yet to give us a "true" list of restriction to the Vanity System.

Nope, Aetherial gear is dyeable, 'Green' gear is not which is fine since you're more than likely going to be getting a ton of Aetherial drops.

Like mentioned a few posts before. There are exceptions to that rule. Most green gear from AK and WP are dyeable. Although it's mostly gear that has the same model as other existing armors

Not really crazy about this; if you run with a solid group, there's a good chance the 2nd tank (and possibly 2nd healer) are unnecessary given what we've seen groups accomplish in other instances. Until they allow pre-made alliances, I don't really see a workaround.

That's the thing - you won't be running with a solid because you'll run with your 8 people then queue up with 16 people and Yoshi doesn't want you to do CT efficiently since it has to keep people busy until 2.2 when coil gets expanded since coil is on farm status for many FCs.

I do not think he doing it to slow people down. He is just 100% focused on the ultra casuals and doody finder and 0% focused on guilds which is completely 100% backwards for endgame. Endgame should almost force you in guilds for all group content, atm he seems to be doing everything possible to break up guilds which is absurd.

His decision will more or less kill off what ever community is left. Because people at endgame will slam and troll people who enter this with anything besides relic and full darklite. At this point potentially relic +1 and some allegan. People in serious endgame guilds are not going to want to carry people through this content who are extremely gimp for endgame (< Ilvl 70). So I hope the devs are prepared for the hell that is going to ensue with this content.

Yoshida needs to completely forget the stupid dudy finder for endgame... it has no place there. Keep it for the leveling process, pvp, and 4 man raids only.

isn't endgame coils? weren't endgame guilds complaining about not having anything to do in 2.1? why would people in full allagan want to do this if it's not progression? and if you are doing this in full allagan aren't you going to carry people anyway since ilvl required for this is 55?

I really like these sets. I think some of these pieces will look good with the ilvl90 gear i am acquiring for mnk and brd. The whm set looks good as well, so I am pretty excited.

I do agree; I had hoped for actual unique job sets. There's so little variety in armor as it is. :/

Though, I do like the looks of the healer and MNK sets. Kind of jealous that MNK gets their own unique look. xD And no more cowl, thank the lord.

Take a full party of ilvl 70s with no Relics into Titan HM and tell me you can solo heal that.

Of course you can do things like solo tank or solo heal things when you over gear them, and yes, when you're in full i90 in T1 coil, you are actually over gearing it, since the T1 was designed to be cleared in i70 gear.

Yes, except for the part where you can make your own groups for all that stuff. In CT no matter what you do you're still going to be saddled with 2 completely random DF groups.

Actually, there was a FC that solotanked Coil entirely. Also the difference between Titan/Coil and CT is that there weren't already tons of people outgearing the content before it was even released.

Love the monk gear, not happy about the recolored healer set. Its allagon/battle mage in white! Oh boy! SE hates healers, our gear is ugly and it makes me sad.

Why would SE model armor on a lalafel? You can't even tell what it looks like. Could be wearing level 15 gear, no one would know. Also, the DRG, BRD, and whatever that roegadyn is wearing all seem quite bland.

Good job on the monk & blm sets though, they look nice and fitting for their jobs.

I like the designs a lot!

The reason? Lack of content. All that's left progression wise is Coil, once you do that...you basically have nothing to do in this game when you finish off coil. Literally, nothing left to do unless you feel the need to level every class (shouldn't be the alternate to content.)

Once you clear Extreme Primals, you have zero reason to refarm them - So..what do you do for the next 3-6 months waiting for more content..?

I have almost full myth set. I'm still going to do this just for fun. And I want that set. xD Who knows, in the future, there might be a extreme/hard mode dungeon of CT. This can help with the basics I suppose.

Reskin is the term used for reallocating assets for higher use, i.e The Mage CT gear looks very similar to the Battle mages (level 32 set) which means it's a level 50 reskin of the level 32 set. DRG AF body and DRG Myth body are similar yes, because it's the same armor set basically and follows the style of how they did it in FFXI (AF/Relic/Empyrean) and keeping the same design so you know it's a Dragoon, but here what some mean by reskin is instead of something different, it's very similar to Battle Mages, just different coloring and a slight shift in patterns. Even the Healer one looks similar to Allagan Tunic.

Battlemages looks good, but some people in the MMO world hates seeing reskins lol.

Actually it is onion knight gear in that pic. Look at the hat. Its the "Onion Helm" from 1.0 CE.

And the armor looks almost exactly like the concept art. Regardless, its the "Concept" art and may be subject to changes.

If you don't want to use the Standard Party Composition, in 2.2 they were planning to allow you to make your own alliances to funky challenge this thing.

What's weird is that this is Crystal Tower, the one from FF3 right? So wouldn't it make sense for the warrior/paladin outfit to be the Onion Knight one and not the Warrior of Light since he's from FF1?

Considering the fanservice approach they have to throw the references in somewhere - We already got his Helm that came from nothing other than getting a collectors edition, much like in 1.0 we had the Onion Knight armor set, but it was a cloth set that came from certain Guildleves.

Then i'll rephrase it as "Re-color". Basically taking an existing model and doing a different color variation on it. And to have it on new content that was supposed to be part of 2.0 but had to be retweaked and then delayed for a month is just quite disappointing. If the mage hat and the monk eyepatch in that picture is just a placeholder then i'll hold my shots.

Checked the vid and though its kinda hard to tell for sure, it is for sure a dragoon. But if it is an official "Onion Knight" armor, I hope its a generic stat armor for all classes, since thats what the Onion knight was, Jack of all Trades.
