I know of that clause in TOS but come on, this is outright uptight bullshit. Nobody tried to profit from it or anything.

So let's recap. So what does a copyright strike do to a youtube account exactly?

A: The user will be unable to monetize any videos on his account.
B: The video length is limited to 10 minutes.

So the account is effectively dead, we won't see any more funny videos from this person and people will be scared to make anymore videos about XIV due to possible scare of the SE destroying their youtube account.

Thank you Squenix for a moment I forgot I was just a subscription fee to you and thought you actually liked the players in your community.

It makes me deeply sad this video was taken down. It was adorable, and made people who knew nothing about the game interested in playing (if only for the fun that the little Lala was having).

I really wish they would reconsider their policies regarding outside music being used with their game. I wish they'd be more open about it, like Blizzard is with WoW. They're really limiting their own exposure, and it's sad.

Because it's completely unreasonable for someone to assume that a normal video game studio wouldn't mind you posting a cute video of a harmless animation glitch set to funny music on their forums, right?

If you posted something like this on the battle.net forums you'd probably get a couple CM replies saying how much they liked it.

I just saw a video where the art director from Blizzard was asked what makes him the most excited about the new player models they're working on. He literally said "Watching the awesome machinema the community will create with them". Not saying Blizz is always right by a long shot but found it ironic that both things happened around the same time. I hope this will force SE to go back and look at the limitations they have in place and how it will affect the game's growth.

The same happened during beta and early access, streamers weren't allowed to stream the game until it was officially released, and what was waiting for their eager viewers? Server is full please try again later or server creation limits on all the NA/EU servers. Honestly if I wasn't in beta and that was the only preview of the game I could get, I probably wouldn't have bought it (Glad I did :) ).

:( this became part of my daily rituals before logging in to XIV.

I'm going to /hug every Lalafell because they've been deprived from enjoying their average day.

SE just shutdown the greatest and most entertaining ffxiv video out there...nice :/

Sadly I agree that it sucks, but at the same time it's in the ToU that you can't post other music with a video from FFXIV.

i loved the video

what's really weird is they flagged/removed the video from youtube but didn't just delete this thread from the forums instead

here we are posting directly on their forums and yet they reached out to a 3rd party to remove the video

Spectacular own goal by SE in having this removed. The video was exactly the sort of thing that would have remained a favourite with the players for years, the sort of thing that would have garnered thousands of views from both existing players and non players. You can't buy that kind of advertising. Instead SE have made themselves look mean spirited and humourless.

I never got to watch the video. I will now never know the definition of fun. /sniffles.

Just remake the video without the song. Post the song used so we can download it, and then push play at the same time! We win.

I really want to see this video now but it looks like I missed my opportunity. Thanks Scrooge Enix!
