People are negative about SE because they continually disappoint their fans nowadays. Can you blame em?
This new MMO venture sounds a little odd to me. Maybe I can get an Ivalice Online?

It's probably Wakfu, which is published by SE. (im guna try the beta out now :P)
http://www.wakfu.com/en/mmorpg
Actually it probably isnt. Wakfu has been public about SE being its Publisher in NA and thats being done by SE's NA division.
This is most likely a new MMO IP being developed in house by a team that isn't part of XI or XIV's development teams.
Thats why I'm hoping its maybe a Full Metal Alchemist or other SE Manga other title.
If it's a Chrono Trigger MMO I would play it :O°°°°
I'll play it if Tanaka is back on lead!!!
If it more like FFXI in the way of being fun and hard but just take out the long hours and make it casual but not so casual that it easy to get gil and item within 30min then i play it and quit ffxiv on the spot lol. I love ffxiv but unlike ffxi there noting hard about ffxiv even the NM are just Mobs with high HP/MP.
For all we know it could be kingdom hearts Online and Disney would found the hell out of it and it be a pretty good mmo even older people would enjoy it but i agree i think FMA should be a mmo tho :)
I wish Square Enix would focus all of its MMO resources/manpower towards FFXIV and then FFXI - and thats it. Because seriously. That's where the money is going to be. Not something that a lot of people have never heard of or played.
It's a company which need money they have a team for ffxi and a team for FFXIV. But i agree if they make ffxi and ffxiv team and some other people from the company FFXIV would have been great at release.
This game could just be a Full on PVP mmo targeting more of the NA player base.
It will be an mmo for psp2 or something like that.
do you know that ? The "Fortress" game

take a look at this in this wiki page :
Quote:
The developer closed its offices on August 12, 2009, noting that delayed payments from "too many publishers" caused "an unbearable cashflow situation" and mentioning in a farewell note their "unreleased masterpiece that [they] weren’t allowed to finish". The Fortress project, still supported by Square Enix, is now being developed by a different, undisclosed studio.
In January 2010, footage from an alleged tech demo of Fortress was leaked on the Internet. The video description stated the game's events are "set some time after Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings", and mentioned Square Enix's subsidiary Eidos Montreal as a possible new home for the project. Replying to a fan question in May 2010, David Hoffman, director of business development at the American branch of Square Enix, mentioned Fortress without confirming its existence, stating "I have and had no involvement in the rumored project Fortress".
I've seen this before! But its also sad to say that even this tech demo has Chocobos and FFXIV doesn't. lmao
Man, i wonder who is doing the artwork for that game, and what game engine it will be using. I'd hate to hear that project being scraped. ;-;
Actually, Phantasy Star Universe Portable 2 wasn't so hard to play, and it was a hybrid MMO. There were quick-commands that also worked as auto-translate, telling people what to focus on healing, attacking, buffs. etc.
It's kind of odd timing, given they just cancelled a lot of games and the recent track record with new franchises makes me curious just what this is. I'd almost bet it's a familiar franchise. I would love to see an FFXI-2 honestly, although I heavily doubt that's it. Like someone else said, Ivalice is probably a likely target given that it's already a pretty fleshed out universe and has a lot of MMO-ish races and conventions as is.
Lol, I will laugh if the New MMO is FFXIV for the PS3 with an expansion... Could happen.. :P
Maybe it's not "Fortress", but other game
take a look at this too : http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201...are_enix_game/
wait.. what?....
If this is next gen and not developped by XI/XIV devs, I will be saying goodbye here and going there :D if its developped by same people then looks like goodbye to Se lol
Less crystal tools, more unreal engine. I wish something more sci-fi with some fantasy. i want to throw my spell like lighting as a ravager in FFXIII, ride a motorcycle like cloud in FFVII.
I vote for a choco trigger/cross mmo (gotta combine the two.) I loved these 2 games :3 time and universe travel ftw. :3. Id kill for surges weapon.
Personally speaking I actually may try the "the secret world" mmo if it does launch on the 360. That game looks pretty cool Or if SE can do something similar that would be awesome. Give players more freedom of opinions and choices. (TSW is gonna be a level less/class less mmo where you earn exp to get points to put in skills you want. and is gonna have dynamic content that changes the game as people play it. And it will have real world ties where it invles say look up on google for a mentioned historical figure to complete a quest)
They churned out alot of cash this year and need to get it back.
They need recurring revenue to steady their ship rather than fluctuating net profits that can bomb any month.
MMOs give recurring stable revenue, more so than stand alone titles would anyway.
Makes sense to me that they'd go down this route.
i think they will make a long beta test for the new mmo :p
But MMO's take significantly longer, require more people, and cost a lot longer, so in the short run MMO's is a bad idea and most not in SE's position probably wouldn't go that route. But SE is most likely looking for in the long term solution of profits after 5yrs.
All I really see is that they're doing so bad they need 3 MMO's just to stay stable. But a lot of companies do multiple MMO's so im not too surprised by this, look at perfect world or ncsoft, all have multiple mmos, though non really next gen as of yet.
Something futuristic/Sci-Fi like Star Ocean or Xenosaga
This wont be anything that rivals the FF name, nothing to be excited about...SE isn't going to put out competition to their own title, it'll probably not even be released over seas.
another try?
hope they learned from the previous mistakes
Its a Kingdom Hearts MMO.
Well it wasn't really "announced" more or less talked about in a fiscal report, and plus I thought that was an idea on the cutting board a while back.
