Repeting content from one game to another is fine, as that is what makes a Final Fantasy game what it is.
But repeating content in the same game is not a good idea. I had to farm Ifrit HM for his weapon a few dozen times too many with my main class and now i'm sick of him. Even when I get to 50 with other classes, I have very little desire to farm him for the weapons. I hope they don't give us extreme versions, and that if they do, they make the fights totally new and interesting for those of us who can do the HM version with our eyes closed. Too much repetition is a bad thing!
If I had to guess I'd say maybe iLVL 75 weapons for ifrit extreme and 80 or 85 for Titan/Garuda. I highly doubt they're gonna add other unique item drops for them, but that would be a pleasant surprise. I also wouldn't expect the items to be better than relic +1's yet, even though the fights themselves are going to be a lot harder than any individual relic fight.
They're guaranteed to drop a fair amount of tomes though, so maybe for the extremely geared/talented this would become the fastest way to farm philo/myth.
Getting primal armor would be tits. I wonder if they actually pooled their resources into that, though.
Looking forward to Extreme Ifrit, since the Hard one is easy even on AF. Give me those un-stunnable Eruptions.
The rest... couldn't care less. Considering they'll be heavily scripted like every other boss, it'll just be more moves to remember with higher damage. The current hard modes of them are enough for me.
I would have preferred new primals than powering up the old ones currently. I'm from 1.0 also and I'm bored of seeing Ifrit and Garuda xD. I know Moogle King will be re-added but that's not new content, its just re-adding what was there before but we will see. Just the weapons you gain from it would be obsolete and would only be for vanity with relics so easily attained.
Quite frankly an idea I would love to be put in would be a survival mode gauntlet type thing, liek where your team of 4-8 is put up against boss after boss to know end.
I do wonder what the rewards will be. Most people have a relic+1 by now, but it still was a decent amount of work to get it. I'd be surprised if they got replaced by extreme weapons. Primal armour would be badass, specially for vanity but again we have a decent grind/challenge to get BiS armour from Myth/Coil. Maybe they can drop ilv95 or 100 earrings? Like how we have cactuar and bomb earrings, maybe we can get an earring with ifrit/titan hanging from them that's actually better than any earring we can currently get?
I don't mind hard modes and extreme modes. The hard mode primals were sufficiently different and exciting to fight from their story mode counterparts. I still love fighting them. However, you gotta provide incentives to do them. Although now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind primal armour with the same stats as AF2 armour just to have something that looks different.
I hope they give a reason to do these, IE at least level 90 gear possibly level 100 gear if they are harder then coil, and not weapons because most people have a relic+1
Considering some peak server populations were barely 400 (I know the one I was on had people searching constantly and it only peaked 470), that would mean an entire server killed IE. It's not that the entire population attempted it and failed, it's that most simply didn't care for it because the path to IE was full of RNG, high expenses and speed runs that a lot of people didn't want to gear up x class just to do.
It's have more meaning if XIV 1.x was a thriving MMO, but IE wasn't that hard, it was a pure check fight which in 1.x was easy to meet if you had the gil or got lucky for DL.
no way, i cant wait for extreme primals. I also wish there was a hm for every dungeon, maybe with a few changes.
