War tanking tips on Cad

I came to this thread looking for advice for wars tanking Cad and all I got was War vs Pld.... for the umpteenth time. How about actually giving some actual feedback to OP rather than debating the same stuff again. You would think people were smart enough to figure out that people asking advice on their wars actually want to play war instead of pld.

How does that one spell Holmgang work vs the Add? I was wondering if the War could grab the add, let the other tank kite Caduceus away. Either way, as other people have said you will really want a Scholar for this. Lustrate is really the great equalizer in the War/Sch synergy, it is so vital to be able to constantly twitch heal heavy hits on the dime. Also make sure your Bards are baiting tail swipes and keeping ROD up as much as possible, this will dramatically change the amount of constant damage you take

This really goes for both types of tanks, but it is helpful to have one of your DPS trigger Whip Back by stepping behind Caduceus and quickly stepping out of the way. Doing this periodically slows damage on the tank because it takes a moment to charge. It will save you. This is common knowledge for a lot of people but there's still a lot of others who don't realize it can be forcibly triggered, so just throwing this out there for those that don't know.

I don't know about DPS outside of Tank stance but my group runs with a Full DL + Relic PLD (DL vit ACC) and my WAR (same gear, full DL, relic and DL vit ACC) can steal aggro easily on defiance if I use basic BB + SE combos not even throwing Berserk, fracture or IR, and still while dodging the tail swipe and glowing platforms.
I caused a wipe on Caduceus as an OT on my first try because I wasn't paying attention on aggro and the Caduceus turned to me and one-shot the other melee DPS. Not saying this is proof that WAR out DPS PLD but from my experience, I know I can steal aggro from an equally geared PLD when we're both in tank stance (which is a bad thing to do so I shouldn't brag about it...).


AFAIK, the biggest challenge on Caduceus is to manage a smooth transition during the split. As a War OT, when the split is about to happen, I just rotate HS -> SS and wait for the split to land BB which gives me a very good enmity lead for me to safely drag the clone to the other side of the room with tomahawks. From there, I just manage my CD and keep spamming Storm Path while my group focus on the main clone and bring it very low.
Then when they switch focus to my clone, I do the usual BB rotation.
Afterward, all I can do it rely on my teammates to do their job :-)

Easy save your cooldowns after he splits and use them when he is over 4 stacks. Then just pray so he can die fast.

Well, i can gladly say that I tanked Cad and won, tanked it to roughly 5 seconds before 6 stacks. Albeit I had one hell of a healer. I kept my CDs to 3 stacks and only used inner beast before that. Keep it up fellow warriors! It was extremely fun too.
