OMG yes, yes, and more yes! lol
This brings up a good question, where the hell are the Goblin Butcher models, you know, the ones with the armor. Everything just the same in this game <___>

It would be fun to see other types of Goblins. :) I also have a few ideas for little side-quests or missions that could lead up to the battle with the infamous thief gang, the Goblin Airmen!
And maybe their arch-nemesis the Cactuar with their pointy needles could play a role as well. >:3
Haha, maybe I'll work on another picture tomorrow. I did however add the storyline idea into my blog-post. *__*
I could even see the Goblin Airmen become a recurring quest/NM for Final Fantasy XIV. Final Fantasy XI had amazing quest-lines such as the Star Onion Brigade and Babban Ny Mheillea.
The confrontation with these tricksy goblins could be a fun distraction and they could turn up every now and then when you least expect them.
You could have challenging battles, lovely rewards, funny comedic scenes and maybe even an ally in the end who helps you ally with the beastmen and confront the empire.
Build, expand, share!
Go Buttons, Go!
P.S. Make a Tarutron picture please...
This idea really has me excited now haha. I can actually see the storyline, with those three clumsy yet crafty goblins and their antics. I can't help but feel that it would definately add some life to the game. Remember the funny taru triplets in Chains of Promathia? They always made me laugh, these goblins could fulfill a similar role.
It could start as only a few quests or missions but as the game grows the developers could always involve the goblin trio into the storyline again.
The name is also open for suggestions, I liked the suggestion of Goblin Balloon Brigade. :D
Ooh and I see the OP has even more info in it now, good job. :D
Where does the assembly of the 5 Tarus that form up Tarutron come into this story? ;=;
Well, the Goblin Balloon Brigade did pilfer valuables from a very influential Lalafell family in Uldah. It is this family that first contacts you. So you get to meet new awesome Lalafell NPC and then go on your journey to hunt down the goblins who keep evading you. Not only do they always manage to be a step ahead of you, they pilfer from Limsa, Gridania and even Ishgard. They are a real pest.
Somehow their balloons have an odd enchantment protecting them, so you have difficulties confronting them. Your Lalafell employer then mentions the rumours of a little Cactuar community that the goblins despise. You find these Cactuars and are astounded that they can actually communicate with you, but it should have been logical since you have the power of the echo! A young cactuar agrees to accompany you and aid you in bringing down their pesky balloons. (Or he just gives you a special needle. xD)
Maybe the only way to battle the Goblin Airman would be to steal a Garlean flying ship that you fight in the R46 mission!
Air battle like Ultima/Omega FFXI sea unlock BCNM!
buttons, i love the lore and on a side note, you play on the wrong server. you need to be on cornelia with us lol
Cactuar gang....but all of them have those funny squiggly mustaches and badass sombreros!
Hehe, I like Palamecia though. xD
I really hope this idea catches on. Of course it's not something that would happen soon but I just feel it fits well into Final Fantasy and the comedic fun of these quests and fights could be what some people feel is missing.
The quest could even tie in to current side-quests in the game. As most of you know, there is a Goblin NPC in Limsa Lominsa and in his quest you inadvertedly give him information on the guard duty of the camps. So it seems the goblins are up to something.
This could easily branch into a series of Goblin Balloon Brigade missions and quests later on. :) It would also involve monsters into the storyline and lore a bit more, as the "echo" should enable communication with them.
I could also see the goblin trio getting into trouble with the pirates in their secret hide-out in Mistbeard Cove. The player would then have to team up with the magical puddings that live in those caves and attempt to free the goblins from the pirates. :)
Or in another mis-adventure, the goblins attempted to sneak into the Twelveswood but two of them got captured by the forest. Frantic with worry the youngest goblin finds you and begs for help in finding and rescueing his older brothers. So you travel to Gridania and seek the help of the Moogles of the Twelveswood. It would be a nice way to finally have more Moogle action in the game. :)
If I am up to it I'll make an OP in the German forums tomorrow. Would be nice to see this idea on the other forums as well. ^_^
Thank you. ^_^
Those goblin airmen are awesome! Need those in game as special NM :D
In full support of this, the image Buttons did is awesome, hopefully a community rep will see it and pass it along.
Nice to see this thread is getting support. :D
They coming for us, and they coming FROM ABOVE !
That is cool... I like the idea of any tag team monster combos.
Death From Above!
Good ideas, nice pics and story ideas!!
i like that
Thanks again for the support guys. :) Just want to keep up this thread so that more people can see it as well as the community reps. ^_^
At the very least the Ixal should be getting something along these lines as well, or even paratroopers, Since Balloons/Zeppelins are mentioned in their lore.
"The Ixal are the sworn enemies of Gridania -- craven birdmen who live in the reclusive canyons and valleys of the eastern reaches of Abalatia's Spine. They oft breach the Hedge and trespass into the Twelveswood, foraging for plants or hunting small game. Theirs and ours is a timeless war. The scholars tell us that the stunted wings and coarse feathers of the Ixal are vestiges of a time when they could fly freely through the skies. But they were not content with their gift, and sought ever greater power to oppose the very winds that bore them. They learned to build ships full of air that allows them to move in great numbers, appearing suddenly from above to attack the unwary. For the nonce, it is all we of the Gods' Quiver can do to oppose them."
~ Prosperlain, Gridania
That's really interesting, didn't know that detail about the Ixal. The goblin trio could have easily stolen their balloons and the fire and wind crystal attachments that allow them to fly from the Ixal. Could be a very interesting aspect to their back-story. :)
This is Final fantasy not WoW. there are no boss mechanics.
Actually FFXI had many dynamic boss and NM fights, so it can be done. Please leave the negative comments out of here. The forum has enough negative bashing and mindless raging as it is.
With this thread we just want to provide productive criticism and dynamic new ideas, that may one day be implemented. Instead of just making demands or insulting the devs and their work, I know I put some effort into this and want to show the devs that there are still people who have high hopes for the game and appreciate their hard work.
Sure, the wait is difficult and holding up morale is hard. But instead of just moaning and raging over the same topics over and over we tried to come up with something positive instead.
And by making imaginative, constructive suggestions, maybe some of them will inspire the dev team and one day we players may profit from the results. :)
I miss the goblins frying pan move ;;
Haha yeah the frying pan move was awesome. I remember the first time I saw it, was Dynamis Jeuno I think. :)
Trying to keep this thread bumped, thanks for the support guys. :)
i personally loved when goblins (moblins) would crispy candle themselves in the face, so awesome. also thanks to buttons for helping keep the thread going and everyone's support.
Goblins droppin' bombs from de' air, singing while they stare, at the questers gettin' peared.
Oh my, so many negative and complain threads on the forums again, time to bump this so we have something postive on the front page as well. :D
Anything creative and innovative like this idea is a +1 in my book.
Also is it just me or have goblins become more tame over the years? In the early additions of FF titles goblins were nothing more than stupid beasts that would just assume stick you with a knife than look at you. In FFXI while there were some friendly goblins most of them attacked you if they saw you. Here in Erozea tho it seems they don't bother you if you don't bother them.
That is epic as hell. I want it.
I'd love it if eventually all the beastmen races at least got a quest chain about their history etc outside of the main storylines. This would be an epic one for goblins, and would highlight their cheeky/comedic nature.
I read this and I'm not sure if hes serious or just joking, but I'd say its pretty damn win.
We need more images Buttons!!
I demand a gang of Cactuar with sombrero's!
Thanks for the support guys. :) Am glad to see that people like the idea and I like having a positive thread on the forums instead of the constant stream of complaints. ^_^
