OP many of us have been victimized by the RNG gods.

I solely ran Darkhold for 5 levels, taking a break only to do normal Garuda kill. No quests, just Darkhold farm after farm. I saw the item I wanted drop once and lost the roll. And don't get me started on how many AKs I have run, waaaay beyond the weekly myth cap even, for a pair of mythological pants.

Obviously I have not been sacrificing enough lalafells to appease the RNG gods. I will be attempting to rectify this oversight next week. ♥

It sucks, but that's how it is. Still trying to get Garuda's bow and wile for BRD and WHM respectively. Second Ifrit run my mnk claws drop, but did about 20 Garuda runs before I saw talons. Had one AK run that dropped almost nothing but toxotes gear which almost completely outfitted my BRD. Good luck and happy hunting.

Seriously 10 runs is not enough to aggregate data to determine any drop rates, say tank gear is favored over 1000 runs and I might believe you, the last 10 runs of Garuda HM I haven't seen an axe, does that mean it's the rarest drop in the world?

(I'm still waiting for Garuda H2H, bow and BLM weapon, last time I saw the bow I rolled a 1)

I got my last part of Battlemage set at level 46.

you're just 38 and start complaining? try harder.

Nothing is worse than when something drops from a chest that everyone already has so it hits the floor. I have seen this many times running Longstop.

Still need the battle mages hat.

I also think its BS that only certain parts drop from certain chests. ALL parats should drop from ALL chests. Why? I have been in 2 Longstop runs where the tank bails after the Eft/Dragon fight because the chest did not have what they wanted.

I see that damn axe drop all the time. I even have one, no interest in leveling war on this character. It was a greed run and I confused it with the WHM weap Garuda's wile. I was so stoked until I checked my inventory and saw it was the axe. Kind of felt bad I hope none of the other individuals had war leveled.

I work in software development myself. I understand how random number generators and chance works. What my post was meant to convey is that you can't always sweep things like this under the rug citing RNG when a sufficiently large sample size is reporting an unusually large number of outliers. It may be bunk, sure, but it's worth the effort to look at the issue.

The Rng system is designed to drop only loot for classes that are not present in your team. If you go for a 8 man run with 8 distinct jobs only the gear for the 9th will drop. True story. If you are not convinced, check on the forum, and you will see that every single thread about loot explain how the Rng is against them, no matter their class, thus provly without the shadow of a doubt that the Rng system is set up to drop only loot that nobody can have.

Let's now move to the next topic and discuss how people eating aoe's is always solely because of lag.

I had to answer in here... i were always so angry too with the dungeon times for DPS (my main is BLM) and i also saw many drops for tanks... but you're thinking only in your belly. here some other points of view:
1st- Tanks are the most rare job in every mmo. Therefore "IF" (and notice it's a big IF) there is any plot to increase tank drops, is actually to make people play more Tanks... its an incentive to make people play that less played job.
2nd- RNG is a bastard. I made myself a tank and ran brayflox 2x... i got everything for tank except chest (ring included) therefore i had at lv 32 almost full set... you know when i got my chest? 15% to lv 35... after 8-9 runs of full infantary/battlemage drops i finally managed to grab my chest (and almost useless since im about to go quarn).
3rd- If that is your first job... just make it to 50 asap... after that you can help lower level members on brayflox, or find yourself a party of people to go there only to farm gear for vanity... after all if you're playing a mmo just for vanity... something is wrong.

It helps to just ignore the fact your stuff doesnt drop at first, because if you keep with that mentality... GL getting the ring on AK... it took me way over 50 AK runs to get my demagogue ring, just to replace it 2 runs later for AF2 ring, not to mention i've been looking for my strategos head piece and ring for... idk years (lol).

I don't agree with this. IMO exclamation marks doesn't necessarily make you come off as angry. In fact, I like to use it almost in the opposite way. It can be used to make the sentence a bit less serious/uptight.

See examples:

Hah you're an idiot. <--- sounds hostile.
Hah you're an idiot! <--- less hostile, makes it come off as more of a casual tease.

Trust me, tank stuff doesn't drop with anymore regularity than the other two sets. It took me around 30 runs to get the last piece of the Cavalry set, and I've seen every other piece of armor drop. What I have not seen drop, however, is the Marauder Ring, despite having seen the Gladiator's Ring drop seven or eight times, 5 times of which were in a freakin' row.

I've gotten all the pieces to each of the three sets in Brayflox as well as all the rings.

You just need to keep at it. They call it Brayflox Nondrop for a reason!

I got all DPS stuff in 3 runs I had no issues o.o

42 runs for Calvary Body (useless by the time I actually got it)
37 run for Infantry body (again useless by the time I actually got it)
However all Battlecaster gear save for gloves in 3 runs. (my highest mage job is currently 15)

TL;DR: Welcome Brayflox Longstop

I know people who did 100 ifirit HM runs and never seen their weapon drop

So? Blame the RNG, or pray to whatever god there might be

As a tank, I must admit, the cavalier set parts seem much more frequent than Battlemage and the near non-existant Infantry set.

I have more Aetherial scale boots, padded pants, scales gloves and more shiny-sperm dome helmets (Elmos), than I care to spiritbond.

RNG seems to work... In favor of tanks. :)

It took me around 50 runs to complete the Infantry Set...

And, I was trying to Complete the Foestriker Set, and after 60 runs I still need the Boots... LOL

The loot drops there are not broken your just unlucky.

Given the Infantry headgear, the body piece should have a Batman logo on it.

I understand it can be frustrating to not get a drop you really want, and I don't intend for this to come off as mean as it's going to, but I just have to laugh anytime I see someone complaining about drop rates not being random enough, you can't make random more random than random already is.

You could flip a coin 100 times and get tails every time. It's unlikely, but possible. Just like it's possible to kill a boss 30 times in a row and never see him drop that one item you want.

Even if their loot tables are weighted towards a specific item, it's still 100% random. For arguments sake, if something had a droprate of 33%, that does not mean kill it 100 times and it will drop 33 of them. Or that it will drop 1 out of every 3 kills. You have the exact same chance the first time you kill it, as the 1000th.

Let me give you a piece of advice: Stop running Brayflox's Longstep. Even if you like the look of the gear, by the time you actually get all of it you'll have better gear available. Possibly so much better that it would be laughable to use the braflox gear. At some point even if you did get the gear and liked the look of it, it just wouldn't be worth it to continue using it considering better gear options available.

LOL! Seriously... Thems the breaks. I've not gotten a piece of gear in like my last 20 runs or so... That's just how it goes. You don't just get what you want because you've run it a bunch of times. Nonsense. Sounds like you're unlucky with drops just like myself. lol.

I did this dungeon for 6 hours straight with a full premade group of all competent players doing it super quickly and never saw the final boss drop infantry body or legs. Got every other piece of the set, but seriously, 6 hours of running the dungeon and nothing but infinite mage/tank loot? It's insane. Coil is the same way, but instead of tank and healer loot you only get DPS loot, and NEVER any tank or healer loot. Pretty much every coil group has the same problem.

I think they messed up the coding for loot in some dungeons.

I farmed that dungeon from 32 to 39. Took me about 40ish runs to collect the Calvary Set. I saw more Infantry pieces than anything.

It's random.

EDIT: Or it was random. I did that not too long after release. Totally possible that SE could have broken something in the mean time.

You must have very bad luck, I've ran it a lot on my PLD. Managed to get full infantry before I got the cavalry set, and I'm still missing the head piece.

It's random, we just have to deal with it.

If this annoys you wait until HM primal weapon farming.

you folks do realise that for as long as there has been loot tables in MMOs that gear does NOT drop with an equal chance, don't you?

the devs have a lot of control over these things and there's one simple reason why you see gear for a specific class is dropping more often:
your subconsciousness is supposed to tell you to play that class


the loot drop rate is the best way to tell which class is seriously underrepresented right now. and surprise surprise that's tanks.

loot isn't broken. they do it on purpose.

I wish what you said were true in this game as I'm leveling a tank right now. However, my experience going for tank (GLD/PLD) drops at Brayflox's resulted in seeing more Battlemage and Infantry drops than Cavalry (roughly as would be statistically expected: ~3:1). By chance, I completed a full Infantry set before I out-leveled the place - but did not complete the desired Cavalry set until it was too late to be useful. In later dungeons I haven't noticed having any better luck for tank/PLD drops that I can tell so far... I really don't think there's any specific job/class bias in the drop rates like you suggest might be going on.

Some people don't care about the stats and want the gear specifically for the look. With the upcoming Vanity slots, stats will be a non-issue.

As is mentioned befor im not trying to get the armor because of its stats, i really like the look of it ! Just like the Forsaken Armor im using it when i dont fight, when i run around hang wit friends or im in the city or explore !

But now that you mention it can someone answer me to this.......as far as i know gear lvls are suposed to be used from lvl(x)-lvl(x) then get a new one for the high lvl and so on to help you fight in the mosnters, and so here is my question.....why the hell you make it imposable to get, so when you get it you will be like 10 or 20 lvls above the gear lvl and you cant use it to fight with it eanymore its looses its purpose in the game, why they do that ?

And as far as random loot goes !

Well totally not true it may have surtain degree of randomes but fully is it not ! A human is making the program and i bet 100% that at specific places they have made it to favors specific class ! In our real gray world we live in you will have 1000% more luck and randomes then in game, someone mantion an example with flip a coin....make a video and prove it, that this will be like what to happen 1:10mil times! Here is happening left and right to the players !
What i want to say that this loot system need to be redone or fixed !

Im not really forward in the game, i like to explore and craft and etc... but i can say this for now, the game is not balanced and need to be fixed in meany places not only by loot system !

Thats my pursonal opinion !

As for the gear i wont give up, i will get it one way or the other !

Nothing's broken as far as the loot system's concerned, but one thing they could add, as it has been mentioned before in this thread, is to have the RNG factor in only the items that people in the party can actually use. Shouldn't be too hard to implement...right?

and I've crafted NQ items before even though it said 100% for HQ.

'personal experience' is not the same as overall experience.
that doesn't mean it ISN'T random still, it just means that OVERALL a certain gearpiece is more likely to drop. that doesn't rule out that a tank needs 10 runs to get a full brayflox set and a monk gets his on first try. even better yet, those loot percentages change all the time, even. I've seen 'purple' items drop in specific areas in other games all the time, and all of a sudden nobody sees them drop anymore, for example. I'm fairly sure even in 'the game that shall not be named' people used to farm specific mobs for days, even weeks, to get a specific item - just to realise that a few months later every second mob would drop it (I don't know this from experience, I just remember rage threads about this in a gaming forum I frequent)

(on a random note I've run brayflox almost every day since I unlocked it, which was about 3 weeks ago. you know how many blackmage pieces I've gotten so far? 2. ironically I got the gloves on my bard even)
