DL gear

You may be forced to rely completely on DF for CM, and hope people do not leave. I think people are pointing out that PUGs often require DL gear to do the content that will get you DL gear. I have not had a problem in DF, but I had at least one piece of visible DL from 1.0.

Yeah that's where I was having probs was in df cause don't want to wait for fc cause they got other stuff to do

Never said that but if people use the duty finder they should see that newer members won't have complete Dl set and at least try to do the run that's what I am saying but also everyone has had af gear to do the runs if who want top elite then just sh for that

Cause those elites that speed run don't give the newer members the time of day to even help get stones for people on first set

AK/WP/CM/Prae most certainly does not need DL to complete. As long as you know the mechanics (which are trivial) and have a clue how to play your class: they can be easily done in junk gear.

Only instances that might require full DL is Coil and Titan, even then people have done some those in swim suits.

It's all about learning mechanics and more often than not simply avoiding easily avoidable damage.

Last AK I did yesterday, everyone but me had sub lvl 40 gear...we cleared it with not a single wipe or death. So no, you do not need full DL to run most of the end game content.

Only reason why people say DL is because it gives some boost to stats to allow you to clear things faster. It's mainly used in SR instances, but this game is so easy that you can complete most of it except Titan and BCoB with AF + a primal weapon. Just helps to have DL since the extra stats, whether its vit or def is pretty nice on a tank.

You don't even need full DL for Ifrit and Garuda, let alone any of the level 50 dungeons (yes, including WP and AK)... >_>

I know CM gets old and frustrating, trust me, I went there so many times I lost count, and the cutscenes made me crazy, I wished I could shoot the screen every time I had to skip another damn cutscene.

That said...

It's best if you get at least a few DL pieces before you try anything else, so do CM a bunch of times.

Then when you have at least body, head and a few accessories, spam Ifrit HM till you get your primal weapon.


Right there you're good to at least not be yelled at AK, so spam AK, loot some AK gear while you're at it. Get philos, get Myth in the process, complete your DL, and go get relic.

lmao DL is freakn ilvl70, every dungeon that's been named in here is ilvl50-60. People saying DL is more efficient well freakn duh youre highly overgeared for the instance, every single one of those are for gearing your damn fresh 50s character be it for the gear in there or tomes, the only person that can possibly be wrong is anyone that thinks you "need" any DL for anything outside of titan & coil. You don't need it, it's just what players attempt to enforce to get "maximum effeciency" to hoard their precious tomes.

This forum, I swear you guys give me a good laugh every time I come here.

As previously mentioned, skill almost always trumps gear - I used an HQ pre-relic all the way up to Titan, and I've never been in last in DPS (except when the rest of my group had relics and relic +1s, but they knew what they were doing too). As a matter of fact, I even managed to out-DPS a relic BLM who had 3 pieces of DL (I had/have 4). I'm not going to pass any judgment on that BLM in terms of how he/she got that relic (because I would most likely be wrong), but the fact still stands that DL/relics mean absolutely nothing if you don't have the skill to play your class.

Absolutely, but sadly I haven't seen many players that are amazing regardless of gear. I see more of them using gear as a crutch, which makes gear that much more important. Without it, they would be THAT much worse. Sadly that's what I've experienced thus far.
