FF14 not exiting properly since update

I am having the same issue as well. Out of curiosity, what cpu/gpu is everyone using? Just trying to see if there is some commonality in this.

Same problem here, happening every time I exit the game since the update. Windows 7 64-bit, Radeon HD 6800 series (driver software fully updated), AMD Bulldozer FX 8120 processor.

Same issue here, have to "end task" it to be able to exit the game.

Also having this issue since the patch, no error just a black screen that has to be task manager'd closed.

Same issue for me. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64Bit OEM with all the latest updates.

+1, game doesn't close properly since latest patch.

This also occurs sometimes (more often than not) if I am windowed out during the intro movie... game functioning stops.

If needed, Intel i7 4770k, ASUS Z87-A ATX LGA1150, EVGA GTX 780 S/C, Kingston Hyper-X 16GB DDR3-1600 CL10.

Same exact problem here. Game is, and has been, working totally fine except for this black screen that it gets stuck when I exit the game. Didn't start doing this until the most recent patch. I have to kill the process in the Windows Task Manager but otherwise there aren't any problems. Minor nuisance, but it'd be nice if we can get a fix.

I'm having the same issue on PS3. Logging out to the title screen seems to work perfectly fine for now.

I'm having the same problem with the game not shutting down properly when I exit. This started happening after the maintenance.

Same here. Since this last maintenance, upon hitting "Exit Game", I am also just sitting on a black screen and am forced to use task manager to close it. Happens on both my computers.

I used to have this problem as well. I think I might have gotten rid of it. Don't use Shutdown from inside the game, but rather Logout. When you are brought to the title screen, I noticed that the "Start" button is greyed out for approximately 2-3 seconds. If I exit or use the Red X to close the window before the "Start" button is not greyed out, then the game would hang. However, if I waited until the Start button is not longer greyed out, and then exited, the game seemed to close properly. Try it out for yourself and post here if it works for you.

I'm on ps3 and the game will not exit properly since maintenance. It goes to a black screen and I have to force shut down the game. This causes the system to freeze and reboot itself.

This has been happening since the latest update, it's getting a bit irritating.

Same problem for me, I had to make a batch file to close the damn thing.

Open Notepad and type taskkill /f /im "ffxiv.exe"
Do a Save As and save it as All Files. name it something with a .bat extension (ffxivtaskkill.bat)
Save this to the root of your C drive (won't show on the desktop if you save it there directly) and make a shortcut to it. Run that after exiting FFXIV and it'll kill the task without having to open Task Manager. At least it'll be a quick way to kill it until they fix this.

Same as everyone else. The game does exit normally when I exit via an inn, but if I'm anywhere else and /logout, then exit, I get the black screen. Very irritating.

This is happening to me as well on the Playstation 3.

Same issue for me as well, I have to pull up the task manager in order to exit. Very annoying.

Try to "logout"
Wait for the "Start" button to become ungreyed out
Click "Exit"

The application should close properly. Atleast on a PC.

If you just exit the application it will properly hang.

This isn't a fix, just a work-around.

Very interesting that it happens on a PS3 too! It's happened since the update right?

I have this issue every single time I try to exit the game. It has happened at least 4-5 times to me by now. 8 pages and no replys???
