since when was offering something for FREE a type of "cash grab"?
Gotta hate Mondays, right? Anyways, sorry about your lost OP :x
How would they sell his gear on the market if it had been used? One you use something it becomes bound to you. Nor would any hacker go through the process of selling his gear to a vender for an extra few gil and leave him with 100k. If he did get hacked, they have got to be the dumbest hackers in history.
yeah, I'm sorry, but I smell a Doth Protest Too Much...
You were most likely hacked. Change your password immediately to something unique to FFXIV, and make sure it's complicated. Do not share it with anyone at all. You'll also want to scan your computer for key loggers and make sure your antivirus is up to date. Someone else definitely got into your account. Also check your email to make sure it's not hacked, you may want to change your password there too. It's possible they hacked your email and were able to get into your account that way.
Download 2 free programs called Wise Disk Cleaner and Wise Registry Cleaner. Run them nightly. Get a security token (software or physical). Change your password. Choose a phrase, like a short quote or song lyrics, instead of a jumble of numbers and letters.

[Important] Warning Concerning the Security of Your Account
Info you should know regarding compromised accounts/protecting your account is there. Also if you plan to apply for an account rollback and report your account as compromised, you can do that and info is at your SE account page.
Good luck to you.
Buy less gil
And this is why you should never go to sleep...never.....
I normally dont troll, but if your level 50 without crafting anything then that means your buying all your stuff... Being at level 25 on all my jobs now, this could cost a pretty penny if I didnt craft my gear not to mention running out of leves... You sir must have been buying gil SE caught you took your equipment because it was purchased illegally and luckily for you left you with some cash... Feel glad you didn't get banned for life... And its not being hacked its being cracked... Hacker is a term that was given to coders because they hacked the keyboards where crackers was the name given to people who crack passwords and security...
That's not really the logical conclusion. A very popular method of getting trojans on gamer's PCs to steal their data is through ADs on websites related to the game they are playing, or the website is hacked in order to infect people. I have no doubt gil buyers can and do get their data stolen from the very websites they visit to buy gil, but it's hardly the leading cause to game accounts being compromised. The real REAL leading cause is using the same password for several services because you don't want to remember a dozen passwords, or because you don't want to fool with the hassles of using protection.
Also token is now free via iOS or android devices via download. Using a token is a nice last line of defense if somehow someway another person gets a hold of your login data. Unless you are using a password along the lines of this: r1A0n2D9o3M8m8R5pQ4sSs then you need to be using a security token, FYI to anyone whom it may concern, as far as I am concerned.
i wouldn't think hackers would wait around to sell your items on the market wards. I`d take a guess and say you had a girly fit and rage quit
Greetings Hansolo823,
We have read through this thread and feel that your account may have been compromised. As others have stated, we suggest you contact support center to get this resolved. You can reach it by going Here and selecting "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page. Fill out the fields, submit it and we will get back to you as soon we can.
Good luck and have fun!
My theory with situations like this is that RMTs are intentionally trying to kill the market for legit crafters, hindering their ability to make gil and increasing demand for RMT gil.
This is why you see lots of farm items in mass quantity listed for 1 gil on the MB (when any rational person would obviously just npc them for 1 gil if that is all they were worth). I suspect this is also why they took your expensive items and sold them cheaply on the MB - to crash the prices.
by buying the mats from AH at 1gil each?
after all that's the gathering mats value from lvl 1~45.. at least in my server.
and the rare nodes are 500g each, well until next patch that is.. then there will be too many lvl 50 harvesters for that to also give any income at all.
If I would hack an account I would leave them soem charity backups of at least 50k Gil. Just to mog them lol.
Sadly SE doesn't do rolback. Contact support that is the right place for it
You got robbed!
not too mention his weaver is 50 and amongst other crafting class's are at 50 with his gathering class's less then 22 and his main at 38
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1558423/
looks like he visited a gold seller to me. No way he would have enough gold to make 5 crafting class's lvl 50 by normal means
maybe even a power leveler or non legal macros/scripts
*offers hugs & hot tea* I hope you have a better day - & change that password! :)
still don't know why a big lot of people still don't have authenticators/tokens
Are they new to mmorpg or something? its one of the first things you do when you set up an account.
most people get hacked because they use the same password in more than one place. Part of the problem is that people tend to have lazy minds and do not want to have to remember hundreds of different passwords. Here is a trick that will help you a LOT.
Pick 6 random alpha numeric characters, mixed case, like nU73zK. Now, pick a place to do a 2 character insertion, say in this case, between the 7 and the 3. From then on, just customize the password to match the site you are on with a 2-character symbol. For instance, google mail can become nU7gM3zK. FF14, since you use a SquareEnix account, can become nU7sE3zK. Your uberporn site becomes nU7uP3zK. You get the idea. Vastly more secure than using leetspeek, dictionary words, or writing things down... and definitely better than using the same password everywhere.
It looks like you got hacked and I hate to say it but you most likely deserved it. There's really only a few possibilities here.
1) You used a password that was easily cracked through a bruteforce/rainbow table/dictionary attack.
2) Your computer was infected by a keylogger/rootkit/RAT.
3) You used the same password multiple times (some sites store passwords in clear text).
4) You gave someone else your password.
5) Your story is bullshit and you made it up to elicit attention.
tl;dr Don't blame SE when the fault is all your own.
I got an email from SE just the other day saying my account had suspicious login attempt activity and was locked. Changed my password and good to go, nothing touched.
token / one time password ^.^
if you report it to s/e you will get your stuff back....after they ban your account for 2 weeks to a month!
Got to admit, leaving 100k on the account after hacking it to make it look like a GM intervention is.. clever. In an awful sort of way.
But yeah if stuff was sold instead of just deleted there's no way that wasn't a hacking incident >.>
