No, its not even close to designed for the top end FC......Many players keep on proving that you don't need a full set of elite gear to do titan.

Did you hear what you just said, by you saying that "You don't get the be a casual player and have the best gear in the game" you are saying anyone using duty finder is screwed over cause they are at a disadvantaged with two tanks instead of one. I don't think Dev's want that elitism
Whats funny is that I got my first 11 wins with pugs, my FC was finally able to bring it down by the time I was able to filter out the baddies from PUG groups.
(My free company was not a RP FC, more like a "Social with endgame" FC)
So yeah... FC are not the best choice at times.
Go in there with pugs, find the ones that knows how to dodge, add them to friend list, repeat.
Soon you'll have 8 people to farm it with.
The only problem I find with what I did and that may not work for you, is that the person sucking doesn't have to be you...
I just got it finished, a guild called blacklisted on my server downed it for me. I'm still crying right now as I typed this. They were a god send, no other FC would help and some want you to pay for it, but they did it for free for me. I know crying over a video game is lame but really, with two weeks of trying to get this, anyone would cry.
Thank you blacklisted, thank you.
Yes, you are at a disadvantage with 2 tanks. The fight was DESIGNED for 1 tank, the Duty Finder was a tool added for casual players to be matched up in raid content.
If anything, look at the Duty Finder as an introduction to raiding, a taste of it. Those that want a richer experience, will seek out like-minded individuals on their own server.
Well there you have it, cry hard enough and you'll get your relic.
Thanks god you are here and gave me the ultimate solution, genius! Add Sprint to it a few seconds after Tumult and we beat the game.
Been doing that quite long time and moving randomly only leads to chaos. If everyone is moving all around there is no place you can predict is gonna be a safe spot when it comes. Nor moving around all the time in the gap betwen Tumult and bombs/Gaol is gonna help you if 5-6 ppl are moving along in that small area. You probably will be outside of yours but you more likely entering another's.
I am all for people EARNING their relics. Being carried on the other hand because you complained long enough, is not something to be happy about. During my week of failed attempts, one group in the Duty Finder almost got it, we got to about 20%. I was the less geared tank in that fight and thus, dead weight. I was contributing very little dps and just a liability at that point. I was honestly glad we didn't get it, because I didn't feel like I would have earned it otherwise. And then when I finally did win, it was oh so sweet.
SO, complaining here is not the same complaining on the game, for two-three weeks worth, I've been trying but one person or two can always drag the group down. I've tried pugging on my server, duty finder, it was all the same. JUST because I got carried by a FC that cared about their server and want to help people in need for titan, doesn't mean you should act like a jerk to the people that got help or in need of help again, my statement remains the same towards you. You have a bad attitude towards people that got help for their relic or in need of help that needs to change. You may not think of it, but you playing the passively jerk.
Agree to disagree. Grats on your relic, I hope it was worth it.
Don't think I'm being mean, as I said before I was in your shoes, failing attempt after attempt, putting your hand in a blender almost sounds more appealing than going through that again. But I think you would have had a much higher sense of accomplishment if you had stuck it out and formed a winning team where you all earned it together. But if you are happy, then more power to you.
I'm happy for you. But as Sephirah said...the accomplishment of everyone in the group putting in the effort of winning it in the end, gives me personally a much higher sense of accomplishment, than being carried by 7 other people. I was in my FCs groups of the first team winning. After our first win, we won it again right after. And in the course of 2 weeks we got over 50 peolpe in the FC their win and attunement to Coil. Now we have over 40 peolpe on Turn 4, over 20 people on Turn 5. My FC does sell Titan Runs...there is no shame in that. This has nothing to do with "caring about your server". We care about the people in our FC, not the server. Cause we care about the peolpe that care about us. We got a lot of members in the FC who are Friends&Family, casuals if you want to say so...we got all of them their relics and not just one, several...cause they are part of our FC and we care about them, not about John Doe who's shouting in Revenants Toll.
Before we started selling Titan Runs, we made a video about Titan explaining every little detail of the fight, the rotation etc. We try to "provide information" to the community. But there are a lot of players who don't care about that information so why should we care about them and "drag them" through Titan, just so they can get their Relic. We do that for our own members and we do it happily.
I just beat him last night. I did absolutely nothing differently as a WAR tanking it than I had done in any other group. The difference was that I joined a FC, and they were good at dodging attacks. What was frustrating about the failed runs in the past was that as a tank, there was nothing else that I could do to boost success. However, with a good team, it was not a problem. We even went in with two tanks, two healers, and four DPS, just like the DF setup. They let me tank instead of the PLD, and we beat it on the first try easily. Mountain buster was as scary as always, but I had something to pop or IB / Thrill for every one of those.
That said, failing runs in the past through no fault of my own was depressing. So, yeah, it felt good to have a good group and get it done together.
As a tank, I can definitely understand OP frustration with Titan. It's harder to get into a group even if you are a PLD because most will already have one and even when you get into a group, you literally can't do nothing to improve other performances due to your position in the fight.
I've been re-doing the fight this week for my SCH recently and I notice how "easier" is for me the fight. One group fails? Np, I know for sure I'll get into another one soon. Party members get it by landslide too much? With a bit of skill I can at least reduce the damage they take and heal them.
This game focuses to much on dancing rather than skills. I prob wont re-sub. I also dislike that there is no way to enchant gear. If somethings to hard in other mmo you can buy and sell your way to riches and then enchant things so that you can survive. Here you need the best to survive. Full darklight gear gets you 2 hits
Dancing IS skill. You're probably just bad.
Titan's rotation is 100% predictable. You can, and should be, able to dodge moves by starting to move just before he starts casting, if you know his rotation. THAT'S SKILL. RIGHT THERE. Anticipating attacks and getting out of the way is the explicit definition of skill in the skill VS gear debate.
You don't need full DL to beat Titan, when I got my first kill I had 4995 HP, which was a few pieces of DLs worth. But honestly, my HP increasing from 4.4k to 5k had little to do with the success of the group. Mountain Buster would still pretty much guarantee a wipe if I was at 50% or lower when hit by it (without a cooldown to pop).
This. :)
Titan HM needs to be nerfed, people wont listen and when he does the knock back and people fall off its pretty much done there because you cant res
While i dont have too much of a problem with fight mechanics i know any kind of delay is outwright deadly in Phase 5. The only reason i havent beaten it is because its quite tough to get 8 people together that are "on the same page". What i wouldnt like to see is that encounter to get nerfed cause theres no reason for it its not extremely difficult and takes some practice but thats it. More of these please.
Back in TBC my guild wiped @ Kalecgos for a month every week couple evenings this is nothing in comparison ^^
i wonder why people want raid quality gear if they have no desire to raid... If you do not want tobe part of a group that EARNS their loot, you simply wanted it handed to you.
Raid gear is for raiders... if you have no interest in raiding then you do not need the loot and if ou do not want to raid then you do not get to have it handed to you.
gotto agree here.. when i sell runs we carry 3 people at a time... that means three people that are good at licking windows... and 5 people who have a clue... 1 tank 3 DPS 1 healer... Titan is a joke of a fight, but you have to be aware enough to not stand in the stupid on the ground.... saly that is FAR too hard for most to do. But hey at nearly a million gil a run i have made more money then i need.
Tips To Beat A Titan:
1) Find one of the rotation docs out there. Learn it. Print it if needed. I like this one; linky.
2) Practice. Need experience dodging Plumes? Fight Ifrit HM with one tank, no stuns. Learn to dodge Eruption; it has about the same time between cast and effect as Weight of the Land. Learn to dodge one and you can dodge the other. (Arguably Eruption's harder as it comes in staged waves.)
3) Avoid Duty Finder. DF sticks you with a 2/2/4 combination. New Titan teams will be more successful with 1/2/5 (extra dps) or 1/3/5 (extra heal). A second tank isn't necessary.
