Summer Festival in FFXIV (Let's hear your suggestions!)

Hot ladies in swimsuits.

That's what summer is really about.

A giant beach ball which people have to attack with a weapon to keep it up in the air, when it falls and touches ground for a period of time you lose.

I just want a date.

Maybe a quest to obtain a new dance move? Or a quest with a cutscene in it. It would be refreshing to see an even quest that isn't cheap filler content.

If one were to go the the PC XIV message board on GameFAQs, one would find a thread titled, "HOT DAMN!!! *caps*". In this thread, one would find links to some very nice pictures... ;)

Looking at the items list at ffxivpro http://www.ffxivpro.com/update/2011-07-22 we may be geting our handheld fireworks! So a bit excited about that! ^_^

I'm also wondering if the swimwear will be certain gender only? I really like the swim trunks, but I have a female chara. ^_^;

"Swords" are going to be "flying in midair" in more than just one way, I'm afraid... :P

EDIT: Hurray for handheld fireworks!!! :D I have great memories of just sitting in Bastok and celebrating with my friends, putting on our own little display. <3

What makes you think that? XI had sparklers and tracers that were pretty neat. And they may be "useless" but not if you're using them for fun -- the whole point. XI also had big fireworks in their event, so I'm guessing we will, too.

Maybe, maybe not. I know this isn't FFXI, but there we had the handheld ones that were small, but nice, but we also had the the fireworks display in the cities every day during the night cycle along with festival music. It seems to be similiar to what happened here during Christmas (which I totally missed! >_< ) with the cities music change and snow falling.

So, I still hope that we will get that fireworks display! *positive thinking!* ^_^

I got a lil question, related to Summer Festival. Are the swimsuits already IN the game and you can get them and wear them? I saw some pictures from in game with those and I'm a bit confused D:

The swimsuits are in the game files, but not accessible yet. They will start becoming rewards for the annual summer festival event this week or next week. Most likely this week. Just wait for the announcement! :3

I believe those are a result of file swapping. As far as I know they aren't obtainable yet and the event hasn't started.

The fact that SE showed us the pics almost a week ago now and still no word or signs of when they are activating it saddens me. SE, WHY YOU TEASE!?

As I assumed, Yoshi-P confirmed today that the event will start early August. Why can't they just give us a set date? ;;

Knowing Yoshi-P, early August could mean August 14th...

I was really hoping for something like this; at least there would be some variety. Alas. The bikini designs make the ladies look like teenage twigs to me. The thought of being surrounded by characters running around in them is kinda revolting. At least the ones in FFXI were cute. These ones look like they were designed for bodies that our characters don't have.

And the guys! So how about a little quid pro quo then? Highlander Hyur undies are sexier than what the fellas are getting.

delete summer events and instead focus those resources on fixing core issues in the game. +1

I disagree. Ok, maybe the Miqo'tes look a bit on the thin side, but twigs? Come on... And the Hyurs look perfect. Just because they don't have love handles hanging over the sides of their bottoms does not mean they are twigs.

If you think that this doesn't look good, then you need to get your eyes examined. :p

No, it's just that people on most forums just hate everything in general. A large portion of the forum community is just disgruntled players voicing their opinions and/or suggestions, for better or worse. Mostly what the forums are for I guess. If people were ultimately happy with the game, they'd be playing it and chatting in game rather than here. People at work should be what their paid for. As for me... I'm getting ready for bed, and nosy and what to see what people are sayin lol

As for the topic, lots of good suggestions.. Not much of my own. I'd love if they implemented some cool fireworks a-la-FFXI. Swimsuits are in so a big LOL to all the people at the start of the thread screaming "NOOO LAZERSWORDSWIMSUITS" :P

Yukatas would have been sweet too </3 maybe next year.

I guess I just hope most of all that it's something more interesting than "1) trade this item to this player, for a new item. 2) Collect this set of items by repeating #1, 3) get crafters to make your finished item so they feel important".

FFXI's were never ultra extravagant and they did a lot of this too, btu there was others. Like killing giant boxes for random stuff, or fighting stuff with wooden katanas lol
