I like both but love SMN more because of the utility differences. SMN all the way for me. ^^ Of course level Archer for your sub-class skills ^^

Don't play SMN. The avatars look awful. Play BRD until SE improves the appearance of the SMN's avatars so that they're something more like what one would expect from the Final Fantasy series.
