To be honest as a SMN I see no need to have Egi's be bigger, or grow into a bigger "Scarier" looking version. I'd sooner have more variation on pets, we are a pet Class and in reality only use one (Garuda) for the vast majority of our play time.
I had actually hoped way back when SMN was announced with "Primal Essences" and the like that we'd have some sort of Construct to place the Essence into. FFXI-ers think Automaton's! Allowing the players a bit more customisation on them. Pet Class lacking in real pet choices is what annoys me most about SMN.
Yea more will come over Patches/Expacs/Cap Raises. But really does that just translate into us all using yet again the same pet (Newer higher level one) and again have little to no Variation with them between Summoners. Most MMO players who enjoy pet Classes tend to for the Variety of pets regardless of what MMO it is. The lacking Variety is the only let down I have with SMN.

I would love slightly bigger, more detailed summons. I'm really not liking the ones we have now. This is not about lore or framerate considerations, this is about rushed work and poor design decisions. They could have had more detailed summons and still make it clear that they are not the actual Primals, but a small part of their essence. They don't need to be incoherent specks of colour for us to understand that they are not the Primals themselves.

I don't know why some people make such a fuss over how big the pets are. Bigger isn't always better and if we have giant pets people will just bitch at how they take up too much space on screen and want to turn them off.

I would like to see a more visual feedback on their abilities, especially Enkindle which 90% of the time I can't tell if its going off.
I would like to see Fenrir mount (Summoner version of Unicorn)
I would like to see Tri-Disaster buffed. Right now it does too little damage and too little crowd control for its cost (cast and mana). Get rid of or reduce the cast time or do more damage for the current cast time. I have to pair this with Swiftcast for it to be useful.
I would like to see a greater variety in pet abilities. They're all carbon copies of each other with little variance. Perhaps give each pet their own unique single-target or party buff similar to the Bloodpact Wards of FFXI.

Egi size should scale with ACN/SMN level (Starting at a -20% of current size for lvl 30, and Capping at +50% increase over current size for level 50)
Add in evolved forms of the Egi that are a bit closer to the originals and I'll be happy.
But currently, the SMN just doesn't feel anything like a Final Fantasy Summoner should... although they got the AF gear right.

Unfortunately due to the class system in the game, SMN will get all of Arcanist's abilities to utilize...so there's no way for it to not be a DoT class to some degree.
But I do agree that as a pet class the pet is a bit underwhelming in terms of details and overall feeling just looking at it. Eventually at 99 having the same the green toothpick with wings would be a bit disappointing...

I really don't get why summoner was designed as a dot class. It ditsy seem lira summer at all
If the made this class and called it something else I would not have any problem wit it
But you don't tag on summoner to the name and not give me real summons.
I believe they said we would get lesser primals. I guess that changed into essence.
