But yeah, seems to me that the stat differences nowadays are negligible. Same with choosing your god at character creation. Would be nice to get like a passive bonus or a skill you could use only once and have to wait a set amount of time for it to recharge.

Racial stats doesnt make any sense in this game and im happy devs made it less important.

I wouldn't have agreed back then, but now I do. I know we're taking the little customization we had away, but people should be able to play whatever they like over what's more "efficient". We know that overal customization in this game doesn't exist. Gear has fixed stats, no skills enhancement, we don't have skill trees (Which are a fake form of customization, as there is a "good way" to do it), we don't have stat allocation anymore (which was useless anyway, since we only had 1 stat that mattered for each job).

EDIT: I want to correct myself on certain thing. Some pieces of gear have desired stats, which are prefered over certain pieces of gear. That lead us to what we call "best in slot" for certain jobs.

I think it's another now almost useless hangover from 1.x design, but it's true that in 2.x days, you had plenty of players consider race when the knew their main job. You can find videos of that era on YouTube saying things like, "Dunesfolk Lalafell have a teeny tiny edge if you play BLM."

But, with stats where they are and the power of materia, it's really forgettable that the differences exist at all, even at low levels.

With materia and the proper gear, they become irrelevant. This isn't the old FFXII, you'll be fine.

Pretty sure stat differences from races is still in the game, but the highest diffenrence is like 4 or 6 points...

That's like a 5 ilvl difference, on ONE stat, on ONE piece of gear...

race stats was a thing in ffxi.

I never understood people's obsession with calling things "necro" when jp people use the same threads for years and years with no issue. If it starts nice or fun discussions then who cares what date the thread was made.
