SE, if you're gonna let people cheat, say so. That way I can cheat too!

Yes, what you say comes off as giving a reason to why people bot, and I say people will bot no matter how "fun" it is.

yep that's my solution. I don't find it boring personally, so I will keep mining, harvesting, crafting away when I feel like it. Just because you think some people find it so boring they want to become cheaters doesn't mean the rest of us think like that.
If I by chance were to find it boring one day, I am clever enough to realize I am free to turn off my pc and come back later when I'm not feeling so bored. You are free to find that as silly as you like I could care less. I find it infinitely sillier that anyone would try to justify cheating.

I don't get why people think this, as thousands have been banned already. I can't find the link, but it showed how many players got banned a month from FFXI, and it sometimes got in the tens of thousands a month. They also said it wasn't instant, for obvious reasons of false reports, etc, but if FFXIV has anything in common with XI, it's probably going to be this. Square isn't afraid of the ban-hammer.

Blizzard devs posted a while back (again, don't have link handy) where they talked about how toxic even one person botting is, and how it affects way more players than just the botter, so they are quite aggressive with them. The problem is, even with how many people Blizz has, there are even more botters coming up with new ways to do it. Just be happy nodes aren't free for all, and every one gets their own, plus these bots are so easy to spot and report.

when something is causing you to be sick, you get better by treating the CAUSE, not the JUST THE SYMPTOMS...

To be frank, they permitted cheating in XI for years. OP makes a valid point.
