Congrats. That was more cringeworthy than SE's recent live action commercial for this game. YEAH I SAID IT

Of course a fan trailer is going to look "cheesy", you shouldn't go in expecting Iron man 3 quality, this is fairly impressive for a low budget trailer. No reason to insult their effort.
If money was the reason (and it always is), FF6 isn't even on the radar. 7 and 8 are the most successful titles by a fairly huge margin (FFX coming in at 3rd). 8 likely did so well because it was riding the coattails of 7, the single most successful title in the series, which is why you see so many spinoffs for it. I know people will argue back and forth about what their favorite title is, but there's no denying the legacy 7 had on the RPG genre, and why SE decided to capitalize off it.
I too would love a re-make of 6 as it is also my favorite. God knows we don't need another version of FF4.
I also fail to see what's so "kiddy" about the FF6 re-releases. They used uncensored content from the original JP release in the PS1 version (though, the GBA version re-censored some things). They're essentially the exact same game with slightly different localizations.
That was poor word choice on my part. I was only speaking in reference to another 16 bit chibi graphics port instead of a complete "from the ground up" remake for a modern machine. I was not referencing any diminishing of the content of the story.
It is gratifying to know that the game has a strong cult following after 20 years and even now the XIV:ARR devs are considering modifying the magitek mount to play Terra's theme after fan outcry here on the forums, so don't count a VI remake or future brand new VI spin offs out just yet. ;) We can always hope.
Pretty impressive for a fan film!
Final Fantasy VI is my favorite game of all time. I would definitely watch this.
Locke looks less like a world class treasure hunter and more like he got thrown down some stairs in high school.
