2.1 - no love for crafters?

It should be like this (and when I saw Letter from Prodcer XYZ I was thinking that it will be like this): Dungeon is ilvl 70 for example. You can a) go there with your ilvl 60 items dropped in the previous dungeon OR b) craft (or buy) items ilvl 65 that you can craft from materials from previous dungeon. And so on and so on. There should be some material in every dungeon that is aquired different way then tokens (drop even). That material should be used to craft item half tier higher then the dungeon it came from. That way DoW/DoM could sell items to DoH and then DoH could sell items back to DoW/DoM. Full circle economy.

Now every DoW and DoM can just skip DoHs and farm everything. This is broken and not true to what they said before. What economy was Yoshi-P talking about if I can't make items that anyone wants to buy? Yes right now I am making loads of gil by selling tools and crafting gear but c'mon... Craft gear for Crafters so the can craft gear for other crafters?

Considering this is how WOW did their crafts(and failed miserably at making them relevant or useful), I'm pretty confident Yoshi will follow their lead. It didn't work in WOW, it most certainly will NOT work here.

If trash in dungeons, like AK for example, or even castrum, dropped crafting mats, less people would've skipped mobs and much less people would complain about trash being a complete waste of time and just a way to prolong the dungeon and make it more boring. Why doesn't trash drop craft mats? I mean rare mats used to make high level armor, not hippo skins and hippo sinews, new rare mats in higher level dungeons and coke animal fat etc for AK/castrum.

As a crafter who has worked and worked and toiled and toiled (and is STILL low level :mad:), I'd like to see more crafting love that I can apply right now.

Where are my crafting bags? The bag that holds just ores? The one that holds botany raws? The one that holds intermediate goods-in-process? Where is the bag that holds all these stinkin' fish (and speaking of fish, where are the recipes that use all these fish?)?

Where is my ability to organize my bags? To lay them all out simultaneously rather than looking at only one bag at a time? To EASILY swap things from one bag to another? To decide specifically what goes where and make sure it ALWAYS goes there? To label them?

Where is the opportunity for crafters to work as a group? A crafting FATE, perhaps?

These are some things I'd love to see addressed, because, for me, crafting is as big a draw for an MMORPG as community and exploration (for me, combat is just a necessary evil I must endure).

The problem here is that when they do realize (IF they do realize) that there is a problem with crafting it will already be to late. Many (like me probably) will quit already. They could add a simple fix like it was suggested to make dungeon mobs drop coke/potash and so on. It's not ilvl 90 gear but at least it would be worth something (crafters to make entry lvl gear for raids). Right now it looks like that even 2.1 won't give anything for crafters and it will be realesed November/December when everyone will already have full DL gear and many ilvl 90 pieces.

Where did they say that only FC housing is in 2.1? I thought all housing was supposed to be in 2.1?

HQ Gryphonskin is better than DarkLight armor and thus SHOULD require dungeon mats to craft imho. With Over Melding and HQ you can create gryphonskin items on par or possibly better than AF2. It should never be widely and readily available unless they reduce the stats significantly.

Also you can't justify giving crafters the means to easily craft dungeon/raid gear just because you're a crafter. That makes no sense and is a slap in the face to people who want to level DoW/DoM jobs and obtain their gear through playing those jobs. I think people who don't enjoy crafting would feel slighted if crafters could just make everything and anything in the game as good as what someone spends hours randomly obtaining through dungeons with little to no effort. (Read: Not needing mats from dungeons/raids.)

Hey I agree that you should use dungeon mats for crafting gear. 100% agree here. However there should be different currency (or none at all) for crafting and for DL gear. Still to get a dungeon item you need to run the dungeon JUST with DoW/DoM and to craft you need both leveled crafter and DoW/DoM to farm those mats. That is why the crafting gear should always be slightly better then dungeon gear. First DoW/DoM would sell mats to the crafter and then crafter would sell item back - beautiful system.

You CAN buy the mats from a DoW/DoM who puts them on the market. And with the ridiculous prices crafters are asking for HQ Gryphonskin items on my server... they're taking home almost double the crafting recipes cost in pure profit.

Maybe on your server. On my server If Im lucky there is like 4 coke on the auction. The problem here is that you need exacly same mats (tomes) for both dungeon and crafting gear. Make coke/potash/animal fat..... drop from dungeon trash and I'm all for it. Right now on my server (normal) even if ill buy all the coke for lets say 30k - that is 270k for item + mats I won't be able to sell it. Why? Cause there is no DoW/DoM in right mind that will pay 300k for an item that they can easly farm from a dungeon. And this is 9material item we are talking about. Some are 27 so its 810K for pants. On normal servers people dont have that kind of cash.

._.; I just wish crafting didn't feel so pointless...

People who love to craft will level it. The AF looks cool so there's that... but short of personal preference and cool factor, what's the point in crafting?

Maybe it's just me being frustrated at all of this but I just feel they kind of rushed the crafting/gathering and then didn't think about what would happen once a. the quests rewards set you up for dungeon gear by giving players gear that is crafted and b. letting all dungeon gear outshine crafted gear so much so that you can bypass crafted gear for the most part and c. setting up really small stat caps so that you can't even make effective use of materia.
