You have Optimus on your laptop. It auto switches from Intel to Nvidia. I have a M11xR2 and at first I had to whitelist the game to use the Nvidia GPU. Check of the video on how to whitelist FFXIV and any other game that doesnt use the Nvidia GPU by default.

I am curious to see what benchmark you got and if you get the game running the average FPS in game. My M11xR2 struggles to play the game at decent framerates and thinking of moving up to a M14x.

I've already tried to whitelist FF14. I still get the could not find directx message. It's really frustrating. What kind of player base were they aiming for? lulz sorry your computer's too primitive tuff luck. oops your computer is too advanced sowwy tuff luck? Wait for the ps3?
The now loading screens still seems to take a while. It runs well on the standard settings with 4xAA. (during the 15 minutes I can get it to run without the directx message popping up)
On the low option (My screen isn't large enough for the high option ^^) the benchmark score is: 2604 (standard performance range) load time: 38239ms
Right now I'm trying something stupid. Full screen mode + Steam.
So far so good. It might work for most people with the DirectX problem since it mimics the Full-Screen alt-tab crash.
