WILL RELIC WEAPONS remain the best weapons till level 99 like in FFXI?

Slightly off topic, but here's a question I couldn't seem to find an answer to anywhere:

If you initially turned in an HQ base weapon to the blacksmith for the relic quest as opposed to the standard version of it, will your finished relic weapon have improved stats? Will the blacksmith even accept it?

From what I have read in the "relic reborn" thread on the forums, stats are the same of HQ and NQ turn in. He accepts both, the relic +1 items come from doing a quest after getting the relic made, which is basically turn in relic + 3 items that require 300 mythology tomes each and you get relic +1.

Now the whole relic +1 concept might be an indication that over patches/expansions the relics will be upgradable so might end up seeing relic +10 or something like that.

Level 99 Cap? When? Where?

Yoshi has said something to the effect that they will continue to make weapon relics either upgradable or a required step for the best weapons.

to be honest, relic weapons are nice and all, but having the same weapon for ever sounds boring to me, i want to constantly ever so often be changing my gear

To those unsure about how gear works in XI right now, the old lv75 relic weapons can be upgraded by 5 levels (to max 99) by completing certain challenges. Which is what the OP is getting at, I'm assuming. That when level cap increases get introduced, the relic weapons will see upgrade functionality by completing some challenge/quest.

Allagan weapons are better than relic+1 already so i dont think relic+1 is the strongest weapon currently

Just sounds like an epic weapon from EQ and WoW which were phased out when the higher end boss released

I really loved doing those quests, the memoooooooooooooooooooooories
