Why don't instead of making them bigger, wait for a level cap increase and get all 6 egis normally.
Then as an arcanist learn a skill called "Evolve" This is a skill that uses an aetherflow stack to evolve your summon to a new form that grants new skills and an overall dps boost, at the cost of perpetuation, much to the effect of a bard song. Its a state you can hold for only so long so the egis would still be normally used.
This would increase the maturity of your summons giving them access to new skills
as well as magic. They would no longer be "Egi" status but now "Avatar". I think it would be awesome to see the XI models with slight tweaks make a comeback. -
