And that is pretty much the way to do it ^^

Cairdeas, Did I mention that you have the first logical head I have seen in the FFXIV community thus far?
and that is why I suggested what I suggested in post number 2.
That is not breaking it or removing it, that is fixing it.Quote:
But seriously with the Job System coming I do hope that they strip back what they need to and put those skills on the Job's then use the Jobs for specific traits like Double Attack, Attack Boost, Defence Boost and things like that.
Like if they put BLM in then take Ancient Magic away from CON and put it on BLM only things like that.
maybe arcanist will solve your thunfer archer dreams, suggest ideas that will create something you want to play, rather than something that will be like something you played before.
Charachter uniqueness can come from jobs, or traits without sacrificing the good parts about what armory brings to the table.
If charachters had unique movements for thier own weapon skills, that alone would make people feel like classes were unique, after all dragon kick felt like some special monk skill, when really all it was was 2 hit weaponskill. howling fist? thats just a 1 hit weapon skill, dime a dozen.
I remember early on when they said that your elemntal affinities would effect things on multiple jobs, maybe that needs to happen. I really like ideas that make us better, i dont think we gain much gameplay wise by limiting ourselves even more, how is that entertaining?
If you took all the cross class skills off your lancer, would it be more fun, or less fun? i think the answer is probably less fun. and youd be even more bland run of the mill lancer, you will also have the same stats as everyone else probably if people have what they want.
why get mad at cookie cutter builds, if you want to them to force us into cookie cutter builds?
maybe even if we have certain jbos with sub classes tha tcould unlock bonus spells?
I only said "strip back what they need too" ie Ancient Magic and put it on BLM as that is what BLM's are known for. I never said anything about stripping back all of LNC's abilities, I just meant ones that at are staples of traditional Job's IF SE implement them with the new Job System they have mentioned.
For the record I have never played a Thunder Archer, hell I have never played an Archer at all until FFXIV but the point was that the Physical Level system was supposed to allow me to do that by stacking points into thunder to create my unique Archer. I tried that along with stacking INT and PIE and my Thunder Archer still sucked ; ;
to take something that has been floating around, that cairdara i think suggested,
Blm job
+20 to attack magic abilities
10% more mp
-30 to heal effectiveness
and some special skills that are blm only, and you could use this with whatever discipline you want.
the bonus would be like the +discipline skills you get from jobs that increase effectiveness, but it would go past the 100 cap.
now lets say arc exists, and allows you to create en type circles, much like the opening video.
with those systems you could get thunder arrows, shock spikes, and a thunder spell that is almost as effective as a conjurers thunder right now (-the maatck on the bow but this may be able to be changed with materia) and your playstyle would be similar to archer.
now if a conjurer used this his attack magic would go up to 120 versus your 80 (assuming that base is 50 if not your main discipline, and you leveled con and got the +10 one, in addition to your blm +20) so your not taking the blms role as super blm but you have a pretty unique class with a focus on thunder magic and the execution of an archer, with an en spell your general damage would be physical and elemental, and your stats set to thunder would make you be able to compete with other archers, but in a different way.
just a possibility.
Which is why I said the Job System should make jobs have Job Specific traits.
yea, but id let you use flare, it would be like 40 less effective and your mp pool wouldnt be as high, but it would be an option. of course min maxers might not like your playstyle.
