Now apply that knowledge to PvE and if you come to the conclusion: Useless then I think you need to go back to the drawing board.

You're complaining about Black Mage Limit break? Hahah.. you never tried the tanks limit break. We rarely use ours cause there's always a better limit break to use.

try playing a tank, and having bad dmg output on your limit break.

People need to stop complaining about things they don't have enough experience to complain about.

As others have said BLM/SMN LB is an AoE (I haven't used it so I can't comment on the damage) therefore it should do less damage to one target or you would never see a DRG or MNK using theirs, this way if there is one target use a melee LB, on multiple targets use a mage LB this idea of making each LB situational allows everyone to unleash hell every so often.

Tank's and Bard's LB are situationally useful too.

The three bar Bard LB has saved our asses more than once when the healers died, so we could finish the fight without wiping.

Tank LB has saved our butt in Garuda when we were doing the story quest and in a couple of different dungeons.

Melee DPS definitely gets to use the LB more often, that doesn't mean the other ones are not useful.
