It's getting kind of stupid. A large majority of high end FCs are just running 3x BRD DPS to take advantage of triple song.

By cycling songs, they can keep TP/MP/Requiem up permanently. This is bordering on broken, and gives an extremely large advantage over those of us who are taking on content with well balanced groups.

Why do you care what OTHER FC's are doing? Let them play how they want to play and you can continue to play how you want to play.

What puts bards over the top is that they get the perks of melee, but ranged.

It completely dwarfs blm and smn because those two are stuck with 2.5+ second casts in high mobility fights.

The problem is bards do everything instantly. Even their DoT's are better than the SMN dot's as they do both more DPS and are instant cast whereas the SMN only gets one instant cast DoT.

Bard DoTs are 50% weaker. Why? Weapon damage. Summoner weapon damage is 50% stronger (60 vs 40 ifrit weapon comparison) and they get 30% bonus damage compared to 20% crit traits. So no, bard DoTs are not stronger.


And honestly, I'm pretty sure summoners and black mages out dps bards by quite a bit, even on movement fights.

Blackmage hell no, Summoner MAYBE.

Did I miss something? How do they have an "advantage"? This is not a competitive game. Different groups will do things their own way. If your group is not doing this, how does it effect you?

If people stack bards, it is not for their song but because they are easy to play top dps.

min/maxed superior setups don't really matter as long as clearing content is still very realistic with other setups and said superior setup doesnt trivialize content. idk, let the bleeding edge guys stack bards if they want for progression. the rest of us should be fine with more variety in our raids.

I just checked nine Turn 4 kills and 7/9 of them contained 2 BRD, while the remaining 2/9 contained 2 BLM, which doesn't have the problem that BRD solves.
We're struggling with it, because it has a heavy AoE requirement, which ruins our TP and MP. If we were running 2 BRD, we'd be able to down it much more easily, because TP and MP would cease to be an issue.

At the moment, it's not realistic unless the stars are aligned.

High end FCs compete with each other for server first kills. The group without 2 BRD is at a severe disadvantage.

The amount of misinformation in this thread is staggering.

High end Fc's will be running whats best for the fight, 2 bards is a norm in most top FC's due to cycling songs being so strong. I don't think cycling songs is broken like some people in this thread its just what our class is built to do...

as for our dps I constantly hear people complaining in threads and in game about how OP bards our there so easy... fotm this fotm that, yet when I watched and talk to people in high end Fc's there like yeah there not. Bards are easy to play yes you have like 4 buttons and some cd's great, we scale well, the reason our dps is near the top on most fights imo is because we suit AOE and non AOE fights and were just pretty mobile... but when I hear monks and blm's complaining about there dps is makes me sad because a equal gear level monk/blm can easily do more than bards.

I think people don't realise how well some of there classes scale with relic/gear.

I agree bards are strong but theres equally as strong classes..
