hes guessing, he also told us we had companies coming last patch

TBH, I am not expecting a whole lot of miracles from the patches. I am thinking we will be more "wowed!" when we have the release of the first expansion, w/e that is.

No he didn't. He said that "Information would become available" prior to patch 1.17, but he never said we were getting Companies.

Go look at previous Letters from Yoshida, I believe it was around producers letter 3-5 he stated this. He said the Combat changes would be split over 2 patches (1.17 and 1.18) and at the conclusion of the last patch we would also be introduced to our first Endgame Dungeon.

but the player i was quotting stated we would have full blown companies as his "predicition which is always right"

i know we would only get info before 1.17, but i wasnt stating what yoshi told us, but the player i quoted

That's not exactly accurate.

The rounds come in two-month intervals, as said in the aforementioned interview, so everything points towards 1.18 having the first round and the second round being released sometime during the Summer.
