Scholar only allowed to be a Healer in Duty Finder

This stems IMO from people not willing to understand their classes properly and also not understanding why their class fails at certain roles compared to others. A friend of mine told me that he wanted to main as a parry monk tank. I was like "I'm running the other way ok? Don't expect me to heal your butt ever." I'm not putting my cute whm lalafell butt on the line because people can't figure out why SE classified jobs in certain ways.

I have played SCH, and without an offense-related summon it really suffers in the damage dealing portion of being a damage dealer. Which, you know, defeats the purpose of trying to be classified as a damage dealer.

That's like me being mad cause my warrior is a tank not a DD........

That being said, now that you know that you are not on a DPS class, I hope that you will adjust your game-play strategy to accomodate your role in group-play, OP.

I am pretty sure that I said that the way I play can be called a healer or a dps, not that I wanted to be dps. I play as party support, that should be able to be classified as either healer or dps. I heal when our healer can't and use DOTs when healing is not needed. I also pointed out that I would rather not be a summoner, those of you who are suggesting it, that is not the point of my post. I posted to find out whether or not there was a chance of the Duty Finder changing. I am not interested in changing my class because it works damn well. Thank you Sepiriz for actually addressing my question. That makes sense, and I will just level up my ARC until the 8 man instances so that I can use my scholar. The duty finder has made the game rather restrictive, even if it is trying to avoid "experiments". It feels like it is made for crappy players who can only play a class as it was designed.

You can play how you want to, but not at the expense of other, unknowing, players. That's the point they're making. You can definitely go in with 4 people you specifically invited, willingly accepting the risk. You can't subject a 4th person in DF to that, so the system won't be changing.

As a WHM I'm capable of doing damage but I'm a healer, just like you. You can act as DD...but what you aren't seeing is that your dps is 1/4 of what actual DD is. On harder content(since i see you're low lvl) it's hard to meet the dungeon timer with bad DD(even actual job appropriate ones) so I wouldn't recommend you take that chance.

Since you rolled a healing Job, stick to healing or switch Jobs.

Couldn't agree more

I can 100% sympathize with your want to play your job outside the bounds of the definition. I personally wanted to be a pure DPS Bard in 1.0 to the point of quitting when I had an argument with some LS friends. But the fact is, Bard was a support class in 1.0. I also encountered several people in 1.0 that wanted to be a "DPS" Gladiator. It simply doesn't work because Gladiator DPS is insufficient compared to other classes since it was designed as a Tank, not a DPS.

And in your case, SCH is a healing class. I myself, love to use my DoTs in between heals on dungeons and such. I always find time and MP to make sure my DoT spells are on a boss or the current mob. Have I made mistakes when doing this, sure, but it's a learning thing.

Bottom line: Scholar is a healer. You won't be able to break the mold of the game or other player's perceptions in this respect.

I want to play a full time healer paladin.....

Unfortunately higher level dungeons won't support you're "support" playstyle. The PvE content in this game gets challenging in the mid 30s and continues to get harder. These encounters are designed around people playing jobs well, and as designed. There's really no room for someone playing a sub par dps/sub par healer. You need to choose one and excel at it.
