DPS Class Popularity

Used to be DRG but now all I see is BRD like everyone is playing it so hope it gets mega nerfed.

i see tons of DRG and BLM on my server not many bards or monks

Seeing tons of Bards and Dragoons on Balmung. Though, that's to be expected. Dragoon is the one "cool," class. The "cool," armor, the "cool," storyline, etc. It's generally going to attract most people who play MMOs because they like to feel entitled in some way. People playing Bards either like bards or are playing for efficiency. Me, I just like spears. (Currently playing DRG and the forum is still loading me as a Monk, so ignore that.)

Dragoon is the most popular on my server at least. Why? Kain, thats why...

Theres been a great increase in the number of archers as well, but its still mostly dragoons that I end up with. I also play with a disproportionate amount of monks compared to what I thought I'd see. Oddly, in my dungeon runs the most rare class has been summoner, which I'd never have guessed considering how many I see doing fates.

Bard needs flat out 30% DPS nerf at least.

Why should a range class that has no cast time, require no positioning and is suppose to be support the highest dps?

Why is the easier to play class (able to make 1 macro to rule them all and use only 5 buttons) do the highest dps?

Range, No positoning requirement, no skill requirement, brings support and still best dps? wtf? It should be lowest DPS in game.

Whooooaaaaa you are mad.

Songs already give a 20% damage nerf. Yes, on a lot of current content, songs aren't needed. But once songs are used more frequently, the damage will level itself out.

But I thought summoners were the top dps...?

What I see quite often:

* Bards
* Dragoons
* Summoners

Something I really thought I would see EVERYWHERE are Blackmages. Where the hell are the Blackmages?

I would say BLMs and MNK are the least seen.

Which is surprising, BLMs are great, and I would've loved to be a MNK if I didn't want to play ranged instead.

I see way too many BRDs. Like, every single group, 2 or 3 BRDs. If I could reroll I totally would.

Instead, I'll just be the best bard I can be!

Yup I have a level 50 black mage on moogle and currently leveling a monk on odin both classes are really fun. I personally thought black mage would be popular too.
