These useless minions takes more resources and even replace the chance for actual loot in dungeons in order to have them in a chest - /hood would be much more of a welcome addition in the long run.

If you lowered your hood / hid your helmet you'd start complaining with "my head has nothing on it, why can't I wear a helmet!?"
Put simply, the multi-piece armours are one model. In order to allow a /hood command we would need separate item models for the hood and the robe, thus removing the whole point of these items in the first place.
This issue came up in beta when people wanted a /hood command for the WHM's AF robes to allow them to raise their hood.
While it would be nice, don't expect it on head+body armour pieces.

i hated wearing them.. even sacrificed DEF to just not wear that thing... running around tanking like thisV

Not to mention the model is already made.. considering that midget NPC does it :3
I agree that overall the concept of a /hood would be very welcoming. The entire Darklight tanking set looks awesome, but the helmet alone kills it for me. Its just way too big and makes players look stiff. What displeases me more is that there is concept art of characters without the helmet. At least Allagan tanking/mage/healer set and AF2 are not two piece in one.
SE, if something like /hood isn't possible, then can you at least take consideration of gear in the future that people don't like to hide their head? Keep things at five pieces on a gear set please.
I hate the fact that I am a PLD and am wearing black/dark purple colored armor (The Darklight set)... I want to be able to role play a little and at least wear something lighter colored
There is a cut scene with someone wearing a cowl, lowering the hood, and having the cowl model with a hood lowered, so the resource already seems to be there. Oh, and he kept his hair, too.
