To be fair, there's a reason for this. Not only is there astronomically more variation in gear, but Aion also has to send you roughly 5x as much information per character due to its level of character creation detail.

The media and the players can say whatever the hell they want about the game, it won't be fixed any faster regardless.
The developers may have a huge list of flaws and additions they want to fix, they aren't any less informed about the shortcomings of the game than we are. Fixing them takes time, money and manpower and even the gigantic Square-Enix only has so much of each at their disposal. You don't simply pull people from other projects to work on the game and expect it to work either.
Why it must be said repeatedly time and time again, I have no idea.
I am kind of laughing at IGN and PCGAMER reviews, Iv been playing mmorpgs since the start of the alphas around 1995 and the first launch in 97 of the first successful mmorpg UO. They said a vet will have trouble playing the game.... its not too hard to figure out if the author is a vet mmorpg player then I must be a Jedi Master.... interface is not hard to figure out... if you played an old mmorpg/rpg its easy to figure out. Just small quirks here and there the hardest thing for me was setting up the account with 3 codes, 3 dif urls, and not knowing I had to unlock a character slot to make a character and play the game...
Dont know what kind of computer you're running but I have quite a decent computer and I can hardly run the game on medium settings. I get around 20-25 fps while soloing at medium. I take the fps dip because I'm a graphics whore.
This is with an hd5850, 8gb ddr3 ram, vertex2 ssd, and a 3 ghz q9550. I can play any game on the market at max settings... except for ffxiv.
The best explanation I can think of is what Betelguzah said. The engine is poorly optimized for PC hardware.
broken bazaar system? what the hell are they talking about?
Way to beat a horse. >3>
They don't like the retainer system? I sort of like it... I get to see what the equipment looks like before I buy it, if the retainer is wearing it and I get to see what people are selling for instead of the ten lowest prices people last sold the item for.
If there is one thing I disliked about FFXI which had an auction house, it was bidding for something and then finding out that I could have bid much less than I bought it for.
The only thing I dislike is how I'm constantly running out of space even though I've got 300 slots for space, including the retainers' bags. 300... I guess I'm a hoarder? I have to do a Spring Cleaning session up in the Market Wards.
