I'm finding fates to be nearly impossible for me to stay locked on anything,i like doing them for company seals.Any tips on locking on targets and or how auto target works etc. would be greatly appreciated
I actually enjoy the FATE zergs. It's good, mindless chaos that's a nice break from the storyline. Not sure how people can put up with doing it all day though.

It's all in part to get us primed fast for the end game content supposedly next month. That's only my op though.
Just gotta let the rush die down and the population spread out a bit. Most FATEs right now have been total zerg rushes, but I've also encountered a few in areas where there haven't been a lot of people and its just me and maybe 1 or 2 other guys struggling against a FATE boss. I imagine once people spread out in levels a lot more, stop playing and move on, etc. FATEs will feel pretty different from what they do now. There will be times where you are going to wish for a zerg when its been 5 minutes and you've only gotten a FATE boss down to 50% health.
I love the fates when it is just a clusterfeck of activity, 50 goblins, 200 players. Explosioins, shiny things, carbies, boom, bshaw!!!!
It is mental and a nice laughable 5-10 mins from other activities.
However, I do wish there was a way to be automatically grouped during fates - It can be annoying to attract aggro from 10 mobs and obviously a healer will struggle to click on someone need healing due to the aforementioned clusterfeck orgy.
