well I can explain why your attempts to reach Customer support is being thwarted.
Becasue of among other problems, the huge volume of people trying to get to Customer support live chat to sort of the service account problem. SE announced, some days ago that it had deleted every and all tickets more then 48 hours old.
If you haven't filled in a ticket in the last day or three, then all of your tickets are probably deleted and they're never going to be dealt with (they may all have been sent before the huge ticket deleting spree but in the last few days there was an announcement that all tickets were deleted).
Secondly, the reason you can't get through to live chat is because the queues are literally as full as the game's servers with people trying to get a fix for their split accounts.
there's a 500+ page thread about it recounting people on hold for hours only to be disconnected or told there's no one to help and it's grinding the already iffy Customer service abilities of SE to an absolute halt.
So you're tickets may be deleted, as might the first one I sent about my split account. But on top of that, Customer service is under constant vigil by users like paparazzi hungry for a story, all desperate to get their accounts fixed.

Oh, I'm aware of that. Mentioned that in the first bit and such, I've filed new ones since the update about the deleted old tickets.
And pretty much expected livechat to end up that way. Waited through the line a few times for it to just cancel when it was my time, so I basically gave up that route when it hit the fourth attempt.
But, going to keep trying and such. Figured they commented on this fix themselves, so might as well keep trying till I can actually hear something from them. Just not sure it'll work for awhile, get plenty of those 48 hour dealios, but it hasn't exactly amounted to anything tangible at the moment.

I think your problem is because maybe someone already had your name on Sag server? I didnt customize my dood, but did a world transfer to an NA legacy server. This took quite awhile after i applied.
I found this in one of the July loadstone dev posts:
*Notes Regarding the World Transfer
All character data will be transferred, with the following exceptions:
Character Names
After the transfer, if two or more characters with the same first and last name exist in the same World, only one character can keep the name, based on the order of priority below.
1. Characters that qualify for Legacy status.
2. Characters whose subscriptions ended after September 30, 2012.
3. Characters that were created first.
In the event that your character must be renamed, please enter a new name by following the on-screen instructions when you first log in following the World transfer.
* Players may voluntarily rename their characters even if their name takes precedence.

That's not quite it. Maleko Saint was my original name on Sargantas. I then transferred to Excalibur with that same character, which then when I tried to complete the character creation process, it wouldn't accept my name. That was my first thought, that 'Maleko Saint' was taken, so I went ahead and just dealt with it anyways. But here in lies the issue, Maleko Saint was never taken on Excalibur in the first place, as I was able to claim the name myself during early access just fine. And looking through things, there was never a 'Maleko Saint' on that server at any point. It's a bit of an odd name, so I figured something was wonky with that, so when I checked the forums, I came across that post from the Dev. Team on this issue. And it's pretty much spot on for what I was having to deal with in that.
So basically, due to some either display error or server issue that night/day, it would not let me use the name at all. But a few days later it was completely fine with me using the name on a new character.
I would of been fine with my new character had the name actually been taken by someone, but the fact still stands it was an issue with the process that prevented from using that name. So I'm just trying to get the very promise that they issued to people who encountered the very same thing.
