Population limits should have been considered 8 months ago
I have to wonder about the leadership and direction of this company I admit. After releasing the first walking disaster - they realized it and apologized all over themselves about it. (Jeez, even the CEO apologized a bunch which is apparently a big deal in Japan.) So, they do this in order to appease the fans right? They say - We will make a better game, just wait for it. And a year or something later - they deliver!
But .. wait a minute ... sure. They delivered a great new game, but at least 1/3 of the *potential/real* subscribers can't even play? Why? Because they didn't consider server load at peak times. *sigh*
So my understanding is that they *could* let more people online but it would compromise their gaming experience (latency/crash/etc.) but have instead elected to restrict the number of people able to login to a server. Man, those are both horrible choices.
Didn't they consider this possibility at all? What about some sort of backup plan? Say like renting a bank of 100 servers at Google's hard-drive farm to serve up the game in the temporary peak period. I'm sure they are thinking that this is just the peak and that people will bleed off (like every MMO).
*sigh* ... I really just wanted to be able to play the damn game.
*rip up sub*
*walk away*
