9 Coke required now? (or other)

ya i dont get this change ether why change this when they already changed the whole 50 gathering to being timed spawns with heavy perception builds?

all this kinda dose is make things a bit more repetitive. i like crafting my own gear when im able to but this just dosent feel right.

Absolutely terrible way of doing things in my opinion, I'd prefer smashing dungeons for darklight than smashing dungeons for tokens to buy material's to be able to attempt to craft items.....!

SE has always made gear that is worth getting a long journey... If you guys are unhappy with this process you clearly never ran Dynamis in FFXI or felt the sense of accomplishment of getting your Relic Horn/Shield after months and MONTHS on the grind. I realize that this may not be of the same magnitude but I would like some separation between those that devote themselves to the game, and those that casually want to have it all... just my 2 gil.

Except this stuff was in 1.0, and was not nearly as costly, and 0 shits are given about how XI was. They said this would be a different game and more importantly that there would not be massive dungeon spamming. That was like their first design concept for ARR, "Spamless dungeons". Now all of a sudden out of nowhere they do a 180 on that, conveniently after people have been charged for the pre-order sale.

They didn't do this to balance, they did this to prevent - prevent people from crafting them until they have supporting content, which to me seems it will be a while. The only people that are going to have any of this gear crafted if they didn't already have any by the time they come out with new content, are the people with no freakin lives. I don't think they are going to have anything really new and amazing for us for a long while, not even counting crystal tower because they delayed that in the first place. This is only the beginning of the MMO.

I'm not going to try to explain the process of becomeing a crafter that can actually make these in too great detail, but as a new player, don't expect anyone on your new player server to craft these or anything requiring these before there is newer higher ilvl gear out. Just don't even try.

I'm of the mind that this was an accident. It makes no sense to even bother with these items if they require such absurd amounts of coke. I hope the devs read this and give us a response as this is quite perplexing.

It is also pointed out that ilvl70 crafted weapons are no longer used in the Relic Reborn quest. The ilvl55 weapons are used instead. The problem here is that Relic weapons are all Ilvl80, stronger than these ilvl70 crafts. They also are not nearly as lengthy to obtain with the changes done to the relic reborn quest.

People will get relic weapons before the crafted weapons get crafted. BS SE..... They are just extremely difficult, and also not worth the grind, poor mans relics, like Giantsail weapons were. Also pretty much the strongest thing that a class can use prior to getting Allagan weapons, but I don't see anyone using classes anymore after they get job'ed up.

True, Why I have to spend 9x125 Allagan Token when a pieces at max cost 1325?? No-sense. 1, 2 or 3 maybe... but 9+ meh :/

It works out much cheaper to just buy the DL gear... they have better stats too >< It's ridiculous.

The reason it costs more is simple, crafted ilvl 70 sets have the potential to be better than their Darklight counterparts. For my BLM I had the following Darklight pieces: Legs, Feet, Neck, Earring, Wrists. The rest were crafted (HQ) and inserted with materia. Here was the difference to a set with ALL Darklight.

-1 Int
+0 Vit
+38 Spell Speed
+31 Determination
+10 Accuracy
+45 Critical Hit Rating

So as you can see, the crafted stuff can have way better stats than Darklight and hence the heavy cost (I didn't even have a full crafted set as I used some Darklight). I was a reseller of coke and potash so I had about 308 coke saved up from 1.0 as well as dozens of potash, aqueous whetstone, etc. Unless people did the same thing I did, it would take a while to get these items crafted and thus I can understand your frustration.

But just for everyone's info, HQ crafted ilvl 70 gear reaches stat caps in the main stat and vitality. For example, if you HQ a Vanya Robe of casting, you cannot use materia to add any more intelligence or vitality. Check darklight pieces to see the main and vit stat as these are the stat caps for that ilvl and slot (does not necessarily apply to other stats like spell speed).

I was about to bring up that point Seuki, there are plenty of people from 1.0 that either hoarded the materials, or already have all the gear, or both. One person is selling two parts of 5 for 2mil. So for those people, what are they stopping? What are they preventing? I have already made myself a full set of heavy darksteel armor, so what did they prevent for me? Nothing. All they are doing is allowing those who did it all in 1.0 to stay ahead of the game, that is it. Overall, it was a bad Idea to raise the amount of Coke needed that far. As I said in the OP, once again, 3 or 4 maybe - leaning 3, but 9 is letting the horders stay the best geared or dominate the market by selling their hoarded mats.

This continues to be just an extreme no-thought last minute change by SE because they didn't plan for anything related to crafting gear. Just one of many, gathering attempts and delay being one of the others.

So, I am pretty sure you are fine with them making it take 9, since you have hundreds of them from when they were easily obtained. How is that any fair? Go forth and dominate the market, crash the economy while you're at it :o
