My husband also purchased from square enix direct and is also getting error 2 and the ticket we put in two days ago has not had a response yet. We're a bit disappointed since he's been working weekends lately and actually has this one off. Not to mention he was one of the people who was dropped from the beta server last saturday so now it's 2 weekends in a row he's unable to play when he specifically purchased and joined the beta to get some early play in.
