Had not seen that one. Thanks for this. I guess my idea would be a solution for people who don't want to wait 6 months to a year. I think with some compromise it should be a smooth process.
Really guys? Did we need to start this stuff again? In a few months it won't even matter.
character creation was disabled shortly after the servers came up
a couple friends were able to create characters on hyperion during P4, 3 were not
i don't want to tell them they simply can't play with us throughout early access / whenever they decide to lift the creation restrictions
we'll need an option to at minimum transfer to a low-pop legacy server the first few days of EA just to be able to accommodate the fragmented communities the P4 debacle has created
Why would you want to transfer?
I can only think of two reasons...
1) Become top dog on a fresh world
2) Leave behind your ruined reputation
Neither of which is appealing to those who are on the fresh world. Transferring between Legacy should be fine or onto Legacy, so friends can meet up. If you're all fresh starters, you should just reroll, its the quicker option.
Some people want to move sooner than the potential 6 or more months down the road.
I don't want to reroll but if say.... the legacy servers end up being locked due to being at capacity there's no way to play with friends that are new to FF14 if they have no way to get onto a legacy server.
If Legacy servers end up being too full to transfer on to, I'm sort of hoping they're considering adding a new legacy server when the World Transfer service comes up so the player base can be redistributed a bit.
Like first phase of transfers, free to 'newly created legacy' server, then the next wave of paid transfers would be more likely to be able to reach the worlds they wanted to.
(and leave the New server a 'free transfer' option until it reaches a healthy popullation)
My personal reason: I work 80 hours per week and don't get more than 3 hours per week to play. I have one class at level 50 and the other are under 20. I have a total of like 150k gil now. I don't want to lose my character, because it took me forever to hit 50 (even on 1.0). My friends have never played and are joining during 2.0. Truth be told, the legacy servers are a disaster. People did manage to abuse the system in 1.0 and simply earned way too much gil. So basically I want to escape from the people who actually did abuse the system. Obviously I could start a new character. It's a predicament. I know i'll end up choosing one side or the other...but it would be sure nice if I could transfer to a non-legacy server in a way that wouldn't piss everyone off.
I think it is more that people on Legacy just want to play with their friends period! I mean yes you could reroll but people have time invested that they paid for and if they are casual players that equals alot to them.
All these lame assumptions that Legacy people want to ruin your economy is really coming from people probably that want to control their respective markets and feel threatened. Its like the guy thats always accusing his girl of cheating because he is the one cheating, and assumes she is as well when she actually isn't. Same psychology here.
I mean there may be people like that but lets not paint everyone with the same broad brush.
Can someone actually explain how a player with 1 million gil and a bunch of 50's would overturn an economy?
