I just hope they get some rest soon. They deserve it.
Quit being negative. I've seen your posts before and all you post is negative stuff about this game. The dev team have worked their asses off to rebuild a game from scratch. There has been so much positive press with ARR. Even then, only one person who is a naysayer cannot bring the game down. ;(
There's a whole forum of them in 'the other place'. That's probably the best place for.. uh.. constructive criticism of the game at the moment.
I really like this idea. Record the events of launch day and upload it later.
If there is some major problem that occurs which makes the video inappropriate for uploading, then just don't upload it. Actually, that kind of video could be useful in the future internally as a means for analyzing and improving methods of responding to problems.
Also, no matter what happens on launch day, in 20 years time you may find yourself wanting to include footage of it as part of a documentary or something. So roll camera! :)
I don't see Launch Day being a real big "throw the switch" Hollywood drama moment. (SE probably doesn't want any drama moments. :)) The full version of the game would have been running since early access about 3 days before.
As for login numbers, only SE knows. Phase 4 should be the biggest ("come play FREE!!"), but at least it's "beta" and SE has leeway to smooth any rough patches. Then after a little downtime it's Early Access and perhaps the fewest logins because it's just pre-orders and legacy. "Play for free" time is finally over.
Then 3 days later we roll past "official start of service", probably without downtime, but v1 are back, plus any new launch day starts. There will be a lot of registration code registering that day. Like Dhalmel says, it may be the most stressful at the accounts customer service.
In Japan it's actually a good thing for bosses to see employees fall asleep on the job.
I prey to IRL God and the Twelve that doesn't happen.
I do too! I see how they're trying to minimize the stress on the servers even more by providing early access to some players who stuck around in BETA-3. This is a good idea though there'll still be some "Bottle-necking" at the start of BETA-4 and launch.
There'll still be a big quantity of players entering the game for the first time and how ever the world or SE calculates the surplus of subscribers to the ones alredy on board, it'll be a great success.
If it is, then...
Priceless...
