Do you think there's any comparison between these to images? One is FFIII world of darkness and the other is taken from FFXIV after a battle.

And I counter with the DARK MAGICIAN! Oh wait, wrong game...Quote:
Ok... I counter with Geology.
*ahem*
Anyway, the general default in the Final Fantasy verse is that all games take place on different planets, unless otherwise explicitly said, and I see no exception with Final Fantasy XIV.
With that said, it's important to note that there are LOTS of throwbacks to the previous games, so it's expected to see elements from previous Final Fantasy games in this one. It's must like IX, but with an MMO twist, and perhaps a little bit more.
Asian fantasy absolutely loves "magic circles," and many of them remind me of grimoires such as the Ars Goetia. It's hard to tell what's related and what was just inspired by the same aesthetic.

Nope nope you guys got it all wrong! It was the man-eating chocobos THE WHOLE TIME! Silly lore mongers.
You've made me wonder if the "World of Darkness" is actually the Void.
Nope. Chat to the NPCs in the new Mun-Tuy and one talks about how pleased everyone is that the Order of the Twin Adder cleared the place of monsters.
Ok. This one I might need to try and work out...
I'm surprised at Moose's answer. WE see this big glyph more than once.
The second time is here:

After you fight Ifrit.
We don't have an explanation as to why the crystal collection, but didn't FFIII heros need to collect crystals to get to the World of Darkness and fight the Warriors of Dark? The glyph in FFIII is the portal to the "World of Darkness" I was wondering if it is something similar here.
I'm aware of that part, it's just hard to tell if it matters. We see similar glyphs when Ifrit is summoned by the Amal, there were similar glyphs on Dalamud, even Louisoix's teleportation magic was similar.
I think the glyph is just meant to symbolize that we've secured the safety of that crystal. Yoshida said that the planet's consciousness formed which means that it wasn't always this way, which means that it was likely, like the primals, diffuse amongst creation. If it only came together now, it's probably part of the ascian plan to darken it, which is likely tied to darkening the great elemental crystals to which she is linked. In classic Final Fantasy style, if we secure the great elemental crystals, we secure the realm, and thus Hydaelyn. We just need to find the great crystal of each element.
Likewise, if you pay out each slot of the glyph using the elemental wheel, the two triangles highlight the two cycles (fire > wind > ice // earth > water > lightning). All I meant was the magic circles of FFXIV have as much of a likelihood of tying in to FFIII's as they do to FFI FFIV FFX FFXII FFXIII FFXV FFT, and those are just the ones I found on Google Images since you asked.
I'm hesitant to say any one magic circle is linked to another, except to say that all the ones we see in Eorzea are the same type of magic for that canon.
what if we add in the floating continent somewhere (dunno where exactly it was supposed to be on the map) and maybe it just isn't as floaty anymore also Geography can change so like catapult said he can counter with geography and I add to the Pot the Floating Continent.
Edit: Also in I've read that in tactics and FFXII that there is a mention to the Red Wings and them being an Elite Air-brigade from the past ^_^
edit2: Also I was looking at the map and you could probably squeeze out Eorzea in the bottom continent on the right and say water receding and or other things caused land to rise as well as fall into the ocean cause to the left it would almost be like Limsa the water distance between the two seems the same just they're both smaller but that can be accounted for with A: Tectonic plates shifting as well as the rising and falling of sea levels or a huge ass hurricane going over the island continent to the right of it.
