Tsukichu, thanks and it looks like just $99 for shipping to canada, hopefully no sales tax on top of that.

Glad I could help, my buddy just got one of their valkyrie series laptops for Xmas to replace her Asus. I never saw her so happy haha. XD
Had the Lenovo Y580 Ideapad for a little under a year now with no problems whatsoever. It does run hot when under load but what laptop doesn't? Get a laptop cooler and adjust your power settings for when to run on the ivy bridge and when to run on the discrete graphics.
I had the same reservations when I read the horror stories about Lenovo, but it appears the latest models have been much improved. The only thing I find that's a minor annoyance about it is the built in mousepad doesn't have buttons, you have to push down on the pad. Other than that, best bang for your buck out there atm.
Don't go for an ultrabook, they're too thin, they will overheat because the airflow is worse than a standard laptop.
I know this isn't what you want to hear but the best advice I can give you is to just get a PC, they are more powerful for the cost which saves money for extra HD space, possibly SSD, and software you will need in school (if you actually pay for that sort of thing.. lol)
Ricky i would under normal circumstances but i really need a laptop to take in everyday to work on, I normally would be ruling out an ultra book as Delus says they do get hot. But if i can find one that runs ARR in 720p without dying and I can easily carry it to school along with 2000page medical textbooks then that might be my better option. However if that would suck then i'll get a larger one that can.
I have an Acer Aspire with an AMD Radeon HD 6520G with 512Mb and it runs GW2 in HQ, cost me $500 CAD.
thanks for all the feedback, i'm guessing that it might be in my best interest to wait and see what kind of marks people get when they release the benchmark. If an ultrabook and run med setting at 30fps i would be more than happy with that :)
G55 is good enough
Asus G55 $1390CAD before tax which unfortunately is well over my budget ($1000CAD before tax, $1200 after) its one really nice laptop though, not able to find it anywhere else cheaper :(
