A huge no thank you to that one.
Scrolling through 100 items to get to the one you want or just open one of your bags and click on your item right away? I take the bags over the list anytime.

List is not gonna work, there will be too many complains later on, and is inefficient at all since you need to scroll up and down just to search the items you are looking for zzz
I think they went with bags cause other mmos do bags like that in a really similar way instead of 1 huge list of 100 items.
Lets you kinda organize stuff like. I put all my PvE gear in bag 1 and 2, my pvp gear goes in bag 5, and my potions and food are in bag 3 so I know where to look.
With a grid, you'd still have to d-pad through other items if you had a controller anyway. Also, it's a lot more intuitive to auto-sort a list over a grid (within individual bags, not gear goes in 1, mats goes in 2, etc.)
If you want a grid of icons, all items should definitely be different sizes (a la Diablo) so that picking things up is like a mini-game of Tetris. Just to annoy you into appreciating lists.
Option for both pleeeeease!
UI mods FTW!

Bottom right, looks like the same ol' seperate bags from the other screenshots / videos they have released to me !
*EDIT*
As mentioned. To all the people hating on lists - rework the "tabs" from 1.0 (Crystals/Bazaar etc) to categorized items (Weapons/Gear/Consumables/Materials) and you have a nice and shiny system exactly like the "seperate bag" garbage, only a nice list so you can see what the items are called.
A box of near-identical icons with no names next to them are gonna make you rage when you are trying to find a "Raptor Leather" in among every other skin/leather you have.
The bags might be good for gear, but for crafting materials I can see them being absolutely terrible.
If Square doesn't implement it then i'm sure someone will create a "list" inventory system. I'll definitely be getting that as soon as it comes out. I don't particularly care for the bags either. Wouldn't hurt for both of them to co-exist as an option.
