Day/Night length increase

My wording is bad. I mean that players aren't forced to play in a specific server because of their region.

Part of what makes final fantasy interesting to some people is that they can play with people all over the world, not just people in their own region. I think these people would agree that anything that causes more segregation would be a bad thing.

Maybe some people are stuck in a schedule and would like to experience something else than always the same period of time in game ? And maybe that forcing your opinion on others might not be a good way to have a discussion ?

Maybe an increase in the length in the day would/could be a good thing. Going as far as removing in game time would probbably be taking it too far though. Especially with all the demand for night time events on the forum.

One thing I haven't ever seen done in games yet, which doesn't really make sense, is the inclusion of in-game time zones. I think it could be a compromise here.

Make the day/night cycle 24 hours, but have it be a different time depending on where you are in-game. Doesn't really make sense for the sun to shine the same everywhere on the whole planet.

This way, you can experience the immersion of a 24hr day, and still get a mixture of day and night by going to different zones.

I think 3 real hours per 12 game hours would be better.

You will not be forced to play in a specific server because of your region. You can still play on any server you want. As Day/Night is not really an important consideration, you are still free to do this even if they did make the game based on real time. You could always play on a different server if you prefered the ingame time to be different from what will be typical for your lifestyle.

I'm not forcing anything on anyone. I'm merely stating facts and dispelling falsehoods about regional servers.

I've actually always hated when real time matched the ingame time, in every single game :( Can't even count how many times I forced myself to stay up late, even though really sleepy, so I could just experience some games in that way, and was sick and tired of always playing during morning time >.> (since after work I was actually physically tired to even think about turning the game on).

Roaming HNMs like GB and Uraeus were triggered by time, Uraeus would only pop at night... and they all had pop windows.

Well good, because I want pop windows to die in a fire. shit should just pop when it's supposed to pop, rather than make people randomly wait even longer.

Let not debate here about making the day/night cycles match real life, localized or not. There was actually a separate thread started for that.

This thread is about lengthening it from the 10 minutes it was in 1.0 to a few hours to allow for a greater immersion while still allowing all players to see both day/night during the times they play. Again, this would be staggered so that if you play at the same time every night you wouldn't see the same pattern.
