I agree with the OP, everything does look very flashy. Seems every ability has some form of flashy animation to it. It is kind of distracting. Imo I think the higher tier abilities should be the flashy ones to make them stand out, not every single ability. Where did SE say they were toning this down, link please :)
Azzi's got the idea. I'm not sure I've seen that feedback either but it will be interesting to see what they have done in Beta.
I really want to slap the cameraman in the back of his goddamn head for making the camera violate the poor characters. Seriously he got the worst possible angle...
However, i've just rewatched the video and I noticed why you guys are saying the attack animations are 'flashy'. And- I don't think that any TP move at all will lack that particular light burst because- I mean, pay attention, every single TP ability utilizes has the same light burst, the ARC and LNC both share it for all of their TP moves. It's like a generic 'initiate TP ability' animation.
Which ALSO makes me think that it's a placeholder.
Just watched it again - hopefully they can make the sound effects a little more solid. They all sound pretty swoooshy/same base. Like the sound of protect landing on players, slightly modified and thats the sound you have for any other action effect. (Might be left out to keep the alpha size down or a place holder as well)
All I know is when bockman swings his sword I want to here a gust of wind go by, if with headphones it should sound like it went over my head. And a thick meaty clunk if it hit someone. Also where is the twang of the bow? No draw string or release sounds (and arrow).. :P There is a bow sound but it sounds more like a small rocket on an apachi in a videogame firing off lol.
I think I watched the video the first time with my own music going so I wasnt paying attention XD.
