Yes they'll accept 1.0 game codes once they start accepting codes again, so if you want to buy the CE, go ahead.
I kinda wanted to buy the regular edition just for completionist sake but they spiked in price everywhere >.>

For the Garlond Goggles <.< And yeah 40 dollars is too much for the standard edition. I used to see them for under 10 dollars on ebay and Amazon.
I thought goggles were the standard edition. Onion helm was CE, right? The whole point of the goggles was for standard players to "catch up" to the early release CE players, hence the "increased skill gain" or w/e on the goggles.
That's correct - Garlond Goggles: Standard Edition; Onion Helm: Collector's Edition (there was also a third bonus in the form of Hermes' Sandals you could only get by registering either version and then linking an active FFXI account to your FFXIV account, but that bonus is no longer offered).
It's interesting that the prices spiked though. It means that the outlook on the game has improved considerably.
Improved..or people who have no interest in the game spiked it as a "rare collectors item" without knowing about the code being valid or anything like that.
I really just wanted the Garlond Goggles so if anyone has a code to spare, I'd be more than happy to take. Until then, I continue my search >.>
I had no idea that code was for goggles ack!!!
