The reasons why we chose Grid are two fold. One, the route's a little more scenic. Two, it's more lore-friendly, since the Alliance normally meets in Gridania.

I saw we gather at the auditorium before the start time and rally the troops. Could have some inspiring speeches :)

Um.... Why at 5pm PST? The event starts at 10pm PST.

Wouldn't starting this at say 8-9 PST (11:00pm-12:00am EST) be a little better? I'm not going to stand around for 4 hours doing nothing and I think the same goes for a lot of people. So if you want a big gathering I'd start it at most an hour or two before the event starts.

I'm not on either server, so I'm unaffiliated with these two marches. But I was coming to post the same question as he did.
All the lore states that the allied forces of the Grand Companies have started their march on Mor Dhona from Thanalan.

But, of course, the lore also states that the adventurer party is there just to stop the auxiliary force from coming from Castrum Novum, so perhaps this extra force decided to march from Gridania.

Aw, I'd go if it wasn't at 5am. Good luck with it though, take lots of screenies!
