IMO if they wanted to keep melds in there. It should have been a purchasable materia from the NPC chick that you give the primal stuff. 300k a materia or something around that. This acts as a money sink helping to stabalize the market by removing gil from the game , and makes it more fair so some classes aren't paying 1.5 - 2 mil per materia while other pay 50k.
This thread makes me glad I've waited on the relic quest. Keep posting more examples please!
A simple solution to the double meld relic fiasco is to have 2 paths:
1-You double meld a class weapon: people with gil or a vast collection of monkey paws and rabbit feet can go this route.
2-You obtain a U/U equivalent of the double melded weapon from either a quest, an NM, raid or a raid: this allows people with no gil or interest in gambling to still try for their relics. and put a limit on it where a person can only use this method only once. (if you're going 7/7 then god help you, start melding the remaining 6)
Happiness for everybody.
Seeing this reminds me of the night I double melded my sarnga. An LS member went for broke and spent all his money on a single double meld attempt for his mailbreaker. He ended up being successful and so he tried his luck with another LS members mailbreaker. Sure enough, he made that one as well. He went 2/2 that night. Seeing him do all this, inspired me to get the heavens eye IV I had been saving and I went ahead and purchased a +1 sarnga and another heaven's eye IV. I secretly melded the first one without telling my LS mates and they ended seeing me meld it in the chat log. They gave me a hard time about not telling them and then watched me successfully double meld my sarnga. We all had a good night that night. I spent a total of 3.1 mil on my double melded sarnga. This is of course after I had been SBing for a couple weeks trying to raise the 30 mil I had expected to spend on it. I came out way ahead. lol
while I 100% agree that both the drop rates and meld rates need to change and that this is just clearly poor game design, the minute they change any of this in 2.0 your going to have the people that spent hundreds of millions on this crap crying about how unfair it is that its so easy now. Their tears will sustain me :p
I went
1/3 on bow
1/1 on lance
1/2 on blm staff
bought axe (18 mil)
bought sword (28 mil)
bought mnk (8 mil)
bought whm (12 mil)
Neri went like 1/30 on the axe I believe. Single handily raised the price by like 20 mil..
