I like the idea of adding all sorts of races to the game; goblins, Quqirns, you name it. However, I've always personally felt that the game should allow you to join different factions, rather than different nations. That way you have a base for a PvP system that makes sense.
I was probably the only one who felt that being able to play as beastmen in FFXI would have been a cool idea. It's not without problems though; it's very difficult to side with a faction who's clearly the "bad guy". -
