Anyone that needs to buy gil in FFXIV should seriously stop playing :P It must be the easiest game ever when it comes to making money. I have millions and I never even tried ... so imagine what people can do if they try.

arn't "zones" (maps) kinda seperated anyway? meaning 1 area 1 map and the zone is show as a open space much like in ffxi? Why not just use the big map and check it to make sure you are not zoning. All the mini map should show is monsters in the area around you. When I travel in mmo I tend to use the big map vs mini map. Since the mini map is so zoomed in.
A message warning people of zoning if on a levequest is a good Idea though. But mini map marker wouldn't work I will just look ugly. (played tons of mmo with them and no one made a decent looking marker)
Hey Kilta,
Basically how it works now is the zones are huge but they are split over many servers in order to manage them it all. So as you are running behind someone when they cross to the next server they will disappear until you yourself cross the line and enter the next server. It's strange because you think it is all one big zone as there is no loading screen when in fact it is not really. It is lots of smaller zones over many servers to create a big zone.
I think what this topic is about is not the "zone" lines but actually the server lines, where you transfer from one server to the next. If you do this while on a leve then you will fail the leve as the area for the leve will be within the bounds of that server and if you cross to a different server then it auto fails the leve.
Hope that explains it a bit better maybe someone more technical can explain better than I can as to how it works.
ahhh ok. I gets it I'm only saying what I know when ppl zoned between the cities and the outside area since the map changes. :P. Thanks for answering my question. What he was talking about was a marker of some kind on the mini map to show said lines. Or "server" lines. In general, I haven't seen any mmo make a good zone maker for the mini map. I've played a few with them. I think a message would be best and have less clutter on the mini map.
He? I hope you're not refering to me. Because i'm, if you don't mind, a She. ;-)
Basically that's what i mean, yes. A real zone is probably the one where your screen turns black and you've the "Now Loading..." Somewhere in one of the corners. My bad. :( I'm not really technical either. >_< But your post Alexia probably explains it way better then mine. Thank you. :o
sorry so used to saying he. wow has zones/regions that are seemless. like the barrens going into orgrimar, or the blood elf starter area then moving to ghost lands. each is a seperate map/area. Same for LL and going out to the plains. If there is 1 map, but the map itself is across sever. I never seen it b4. when you zone you on an new area/region.
Maybe someone can make a vid so i can see whats going on. Im curious now.
This would make the map uglier than it already is.
