I respectfully disagree. Corsair was my favourite job in FFXI. It was the perfect mix of support/DD, not to mention fun and unique. I've never seen anything like it in any of the MMO's I've played. I stopped playing FFXI when FFXIV came out, but at least back then it was very useful - especially if paired with a BRD. And after all the tweaks they made, the buffs were pretty potent, even if you didn't get a lucky number or an 11.

That said, they already have a ranged/support job in this game, so I can't really see them adding Corsair anytime soon. At least not the FFXI version of it.

I don't really feel like seeing Corsair again honestly. That was something unique to FFXI's world, and I really think they could draw something different for FFXIV. I like the idea of Gun Mage, and some of the other gun wielding jobs we've seen in past FF games, even calling it Gambler and giving it a different theme than pirate would make it new. No reason to do what FFXI has already done.

Bard came out of nowhere, branching from Archer.

Therefore, let's continue this insanity and make Red Mage the job for Musketeer. Shooty mage class go!

I'm sure I could find it online without too much effort but what exactly does a musketeer do? Is it just a ranged class that uses guns? Or does it do something special and thats what makes it so popular? Cause I don't get it.

Cor just got really dumb. Wait till the cor rolls 2 11s and lock your buffs on a ??? or a crystal in Prov or something.

I don't think it's necessarily that popular. I think people talk about it mainly because it's one of the two classes we've always known would come eventually.

It's popular I think because it's one of the two classes that never got released (Thus far anyway). It even has its own guild, but I guess it wasn't ready since the game was released way too early.

Anyway, as far as I know, it uses muskets and is a ranged class. No idea what its role would be other than dps, maybe debuff's in the form of ammo similar to archer, but I would like to think they would at least do something a little different with MSK.

One of my LSmates thinks it could be a ranged monk/pgl. Archer has more AoE attacks, so maybe MSK could be high single target damage.

If Red Mage doesn't come from Fencer

If Blue Mage doesn't come from Beastmaster

If Ninja doesn't come from Thief

If Corsair doesn't come from Musketeer
