New Variant Dungeon: Reward structure is a downgrade from previous ones.

But lets not pretend the second version won't be a walkthrough either. Im guessing once a week passes, people will identify the easier of the three paths > farm that path for currency > exchange for alo savage weapon material.

You aren't required to run all three paths for advanced either, so the speed strats will come out and having alo savage weapons now is a joke.

having ester as a drop from advanced is just a big middle finger to everyone who did aloalo savage. Advanced is ex level at best.

I have to agree 100%, I also think this is a massive downgrade compared to the earlier system.

A Variant themed mount was always a great reward for spending time in the content to unlock all the paths and the lore. It made revisiting it worthwhile and fun.

And now what? We just have to spam the harder version, aka 3 bosses in a row, earn currency until we finally have enough, then buy it. Not unlike farming 100 totems from ex bosses, just without the excruciating six month wait until we can buy the mount then. Wow, what a great improvement this is. Almost revoulutionary.

I dunno who thought of this change as being something great players would enjoy, but damn, they missed the mark.

The engagement metrics will make it easy to justify making any future variants into boss rushes. That's the only possible reason I can think of that isn't just stupidity.

This wouldnt be new. This existed with the first 3 savage criterion encounters. Except for dawntrail, they made the mount grind even easier as there aren't mob packs (that were actually threatening and took time to study). For the frist 3 criterions, there was a drop chance upon clearing the final boss, so the 100 turn is is a pity system.

Yeah. If it was some thavnairian or desert like face veil I would be way happier as well. This is just not it.

I could speak on my disappointment of CBU3 removing trash packs from Criterion for hours on end. But the fact that 2 years after the vocal majority asked for better rewards, the only major change is the removal of the dungeon aspect and instead just a boss rush is really the most disappointing thing about all of this.

Glad we have yet another boss rush tho, another piece of content that got sanded down because "Oh no I have to spend time beating up Trash in my DUNGEON, I just want to get to the action", like it already wasn't enough that 8 Man Raids went from heavily instanced zones to just arena teleports and tournament arcs, dunno why anybody would actually want some zone design from PANDAEMONIUM, just zone in and beat up boss.

I don't like blaming the devs on circumstances i have 0 ideas about, but when we have Yoshida publicly inviting content creators to dinners, I really can't help but raise an eyebrow at who the devs are listening to.

EDIT: Side Note, I do think it's hilarious that this piece of content with EW vibes gives out a head piece for fully clearing it after giving out mounts previously. Very in line with only getting some lame head piece for getting all jobs to 90 back in EW.

haha i heard this too, but I think it was just you had to do aloalo criterion and unlock (not clear) savage. I would be okay with this because at least it wouldn't kill aloalo completely. I just wish the ester was at least only a drop from merchant's criterion rather than advanced and criterion.
