That's what the games it's emulating are like. If my options are a minigame based on those and walking from NPC A to NPCs B, C, and D, then going back to A, then to NPC E, then back to A, and that being the end, I'll take the former.

I had a blast doing one with one of my long-hiatus friend in other day, and now we've arranged a better timing to ensure more people can meet up by the weekend to play together in this mini-game, and potentially those who we happen to see in same day.
I sorely miss this sort of enthusiasm: wanting to check out a seasonal event and planning to do casual things together with friends. This imho are what seasonal events should've been for.
The minigame was adorable and a lot of fun!
Your experiences are not universally shared amongst everyone. It is merely just your opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Sorry you hated it but a lot of people enjoyed it. Perhaps taking a step back from fuming over a cake building minigame would do you some good.
Gonna be honest, some people just sound miserable.
I’ll admit I haven’t done the event yet but surely it’s good they’re at least trying to do something ‘different’? Even just a silly minigame feels like more effort than we’ve had in many past events I’d say lol.
Not to say it doesn’t have issues because idk lol but like I don’t see a problem with them doing things that actually engage the player and aren’t just ‘read text box, run to next npc, read text box, event done your reward is a random piece of furniture’ etc lol
I was actually going to come in here and say that while I actually enjoyed the minigame, I don't really have much reason to do it more then once seeing as you get 150 chocolates when completing it and, after buying everything from the shop (including 4 chairs and 2 rugs), still had 66 chocolates left. Did I miss some? (*´∀`*) ~?
Yeah next event should just be about BIG MAN BLASTOISE!

Not at all, the minigame is extremely generous with rewards, each completed cake gives 30 chocos, up to 150 max per run with 5 completed cakes, assuming you don't want any housing items, which can be argued to be the majority of the playerbase, you need 55 chocos for all the items, which is 2 cakes, the whole thing is designed to not take more than one run even for the worst parties.
